How To Feel Safer In Your Own Home

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Your home should be one place where you are able to feel as safe as you would hope. If you are not able to feel that way, however, then it might mean that you need to look into why that is - so that you can take the appropriate steps going forward to make it safer. The safer you can feel in your home, the more likely it is that you will feel safer in other areas of your life too, so it really is an important factor to focus on. Let’s take a look at some of the ways in which you can feel safer in your own home right now.

Move To A Safe Area
Although this is not always possible for everyone, simply moving to a safer area can be a profoundly effective way to ensure that you are feeling safer in your own home. When the location you are in is safe, that affects how you feel within the home too, so this is definitely a consideration to make. If you are able to move somewhere safer, doing so is definitely going to be a wise move to make. If nothing else, you won’t have to worry as much about break-ins and the like.

Keep The Exterior Safe
Of course, feeling safe comes from actually being safe, first and foremost, which is why you should make sure that you are doing all you can to secure the exterior of your home too. That includes the perimeter in the garden but also the doors, windows and walls. If these are safe, then you are going to feel safer too. On top of that, there is the roofing to consider. A galvalume metal roof is going to make you feel a lot safer than a roof with less strong materials, so that is something to think about - and make sure that you keep on top of any necessary repairs.

Know Your Neighbors
Having a good relationship with your neighbors is another great way to make sure that you feel considerably safer, as it means that you don’t have as much reason to fear the people that live in your area. Spend some time getting to know them and talking to them, and make sure that you are doing all you can to ingratiate yourself in the local community in whatever way possible. That is going to make for a much more effective feeling of safety, for you and for your family, and it makes life more joyous as well, which is always a good thing to be able to say. This is one of those things that you should really focus on as best as you can.

If you have done those three things, you are going to find that you feel so much safer in your home in no time - and that will lead to some significant improvements in your mental health, your overall wellbeing, and your life in general. Make sure that you don’t overlook these vital things.

Why Doesn't Your Home Feel Like A Sanctuary?

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Considering that they’re our places of escape, our homes should always feel like a sanctuary to which we can retreat and feel happy regardless of what’s going on elsewhere. But, what happens if your home either never has, or has somehow stopped feeling like, the sanctuary that you need it to be?

Suddenly, the reality of not feeling able to escape at home either can take a significant toll. Over time, you may even find yourself wondering whether a home move would be better than feeling so ill at ease. In reality, though, our homes often stop feeling like sanctuaries due to a few fatal mistakes that, unless addressed, will likely follow us to any property.

With that in mind, instead of running away from the problem, it’s worth taking a step back and considering the following reasons why your home might not currently feel like the sanctuary you need it to be.

You haven’t created anywhere specific to relax
If you haven’t made a specific effort to incorporate relaxing spaces throughout your home then it’s no wonder you struggle to feel comfortable here. The form of these areas is, of course, going to look different depending on your tastes, but redesigning your spare room to create a meditation space, or even investing in hot tub wiring to finally ensure a more relaxing usage for your outdoors could all make a huge difference overall. Even something as simple as creating a spa-like bathroom could work in helping you to feel calmer and happier whenever you spend time at home.

A lack of personality
Often, a home stops feeling like a sanctuary because it stops feeling like it belongs to you. Hence why it’s also crucial to reconsider your decor.. Specifically, it’s often worth replacing outdated or largely lifeless shop-bought pieces with things like personal pictures, artwork that means something to you, and even homemade or repurposed furniture that more clearly expresses who you are. Even just one or two pieces of this nature in a room can transform the space, making it feel like yours at last, and creating a personal, wonderful sanctuary vibe as a result.

Failing to consider the senses
It’s also worth noting that, often, a true sanctuary is a sensual experience. As such, if you’re failing to achieve the sanctuary that you desire, you may be simply failing to consider all of the senses in a way that works. In some sense, adding personal touches is going to help here from a sight perspective, but incorporating scents that you love in the form of candles, diffusers, or similar could also prove to be transformative. Equally, making space for relaxing sounds that you love using surround sound speakers or similar can help you to far more easily connect with the space, and thus create the sanctuary you seek as a result.

Even if your home doesn’t feel like a sanctuary right now, realizing these reasons why is all it takes to turn the tides of relaxation here at last.

Your Guide To Dramatically Improve Your Home's Curb Appeal

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

House curb appeal is important because it allows you to boost your home's resale value with minimal time or money invested. But, more importantly, its impact on buyer satisfaction goes well beyond real estate transactions.

Here Are 8 Easy Tips That Will Show You How To Dramatically Improve Your House Curb Appeal

Paint Your Exterior
How many times have you driven by a beat-up old house or seen one of those homes with peeling paint? It stands out like a sore thumb and makes people wonder why someone doesn't just go ahead and paint their place already! It may not solve all of your house's problems, but fresh coats of exterior paint make a huge difference. It helps bring homes back from neglect, and it's an easy way to boost your home's curb appeal for almost zero effort or money.

Grid Of The Clutter
If you're looking to sell your house in the near future, then you know all about how much of a pain it is to pack up all those knick-knacks and other junk that you've accumulated over the years. But imagine being a buyer going through all your old stuff as they try to picture their lives in there! So don't be selfish - weed out all those items that aren't worth taking with you and donate them somewhere so somebody else can put them to good use. Not only will this help people see your home without having to look through the clutter, but it will also make their walkthrough far more pleasant.

Clean Up The Yard
Just like you probably wouldn't want to go rummaging through someone's old junk, most buyers won't want to go digging around in your overgrown grass and weeds. Having a well-manicured lawn makes all the difference for real estate agents trying to sell your home. It shows buyers how much pride you take in maintaining your property and gives them an easy first step that they can work off of when doing their own research about your home.

Plant Flowers
This is one of those small details that goes a long way towards improving the curb appeal of any house! Flowers are fairly low maintenance once they're planted - just make sure to fertilize them every few months, and you're good to go. Often times it takes years for flowers to grow, so there can usually be little consequences if you end up neglecting them in the future. Another benefit is that they increase your home's value while also attracting more birds and butterflies!

Make A Pathway
If you have a long approach leading up to your house, then consider making a small gravel or cobblestone walkway from the road to your door. It will help buyers differentiate between the sidewalk and the part of the path that leads directly into your house, which helps them picture themselves walking through your front door much easier! You can even add flower pots on either side of the way filled with pretty flowers -- this will further help distinguish the path from the rest of your yard and make it look like a special feature that deserves attention.

Add Some Colour To Your Exterior
Don't think you're limited to just painting your house! There are plenty of other ways to add colour, such as putting up colourful shutters or replacing plain old windows with new home windows for an artistic flair. Replacing older doors with new ones is another great way to spruce up your home because you can choose pretty much any material you want - traditional wood, modern metal, painted stone. The possibilities are endless!

Don't Forget About Your Backyard
As much as people would like to walk through your front door and never come back, the truth is that they're probably going to end up in your backyard at some point. Try to keep it tidy (and free of things such as excess tools, trash bags or clutter) because this could make a potential buyer lose interest. On the other hand, you want buyers to see themselves actually using your outdoor space, so if you have deck chairs and grill set up outside, then go ahead and show them off! If not, shoehorn them out there anyway (but make sure they're clean and functional).

Clean Out Gutters
If water pools around your roof, potential buyers might see themselves constantly dealing with roof leaks and basement flooding. Clogged gutters and downspouts are the leading cause of water pooling, which results in water damage that can be very costly to repair. Of course, nobody wants to buy a home that already has issues with water leakage - so if you're serious about selling your place, then clean your gutters regularly!

Simple Ways To Vamp Up Your Home This Winter

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

It seems as soon as Christmas is over and we remove the decorations from our home, many of us are hankering for a change. It is only natural to consider a fresh start in January, particularly when it comes to decor. You might be looking for a professional home remodeler or perhaps even some long awaited DIY. Whatever the project, we can all agree that working on the house can be rewarding and it can make the space feel like a brand new one in no time.

Today we want to take a look at some ideas for home improvements you can try in January to refresh your home and make it feel brand new this year.

Repaint your glosswork
One of the most overlooked elements of our homes is the glosswork. This is usually anything from the doors throughout the home to our skirting boards and the bannister of the stairs. Over time, even the brightest white gloss paint can start to dull and turn either grey or yellow. This can have an impact on the light around your house and it can also make the home look a little old and dull. To combat this, grab your sandpaper and gloss paint and get to work this week giving each surface a fresh coat. You’d be surprised what an impact it can have!

Choose matte for kitchen cupboards
When changing up the colour of your kitchen cupboards there are so many amazing colours to choose from. Whether you want to go with a bright white or a deep navy, choosing a matte shade is a great way to make it feel more modern and new. Repainting your kitchen cupboards will only take a few days and once it is done your whole room will feel renewed without a heavy dent in your wallet. If you have hardwood dining furniture that you want to paint, make sure you give it multiple layers.

Install a fire pit in the garden
If you are looking for something fun to bring into your garden in 2022, a custom fire pit can be a great idea. For those of you who love to host outdoor gatherings or even just like spending your time outside, a fire pit will provide a stunning focal point as well as a functional way to stay warm when its a little chilly. Imagine toasting marshmallows in the summer while sitting around your own custom fire pit… yes please!

Create a floating shelf space
One of the things a lot of us struggle with at home is storage space. If you have a fairly small home, you’ll know how valuable every inch of the home is, and that’s why adding a floating shelf display could be a great DIY to try this month. Choose a blank space of wall and add 3 shelves vertically, and then you can use this to store books and other knick knacks as well as displaying plants or candles.

Use bright white
There is nothing more satisfying than a bright white wall. For those of you who feel like your house is always dark and dull, switching up your walls to bright white is the answer you need. White reflects all light, and this means it will take a dull room and make it look stunning and light within 1-2 coats. You can buy big tins of white paint at low cost, and it will last you for many rooms in the house. For a simple DIY that will take you a few days to do, white paint can have a lasting impact on your living space for years.

Lay a new floor
Flooring is an important feature of any home and it can have a massive impact on the way your home looks. If you are looking for a fresh start in the new year, laying a brand new floor is the answer and it will immediately lift a room and make it look renewed. Making the switch from a carpet to hardwood flooring in your living room for example can be an amazing thing and it will instantly make your house look and feel modern.

Revamp your entryway
The entryway of your home is the first thing a guest will see when they visit you. While most of us don’t make a habit of spending time in the hallway of our homes, its nice to have a welcoming atmosphere for those who come to visit. You can hang art, mirrors, lights, and display plants and candles depending on the space you have and this will create a lovely new facet to your home.

The Horrible Truth About The House That Seems Too Good To Be True

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Whether you’re moving around the corner or across the world, searching for somewhere new to live can be extremely exciting, providing you with the chance to carve out a new space for yourself that, hopefully, takes you that bit closer to the house of your dreams.

It is, however, important to remember that just because a property looks great on paper or listed across go-to real estate websites doesn’t necessarily mean you should tap your mortgage broker’s speed dial straight away. Instead, it’s crucial to keep your head about you with even the best properties by realizing that, sometimes, houses that seem too good to be true turn out to be precisely that.

Viewings are, obviously, the best way to make sure, but it’s also worth looking out for the following red flags that the house you’re falling in love with isn’t quite the ideal match you’ve got in mind.

# 1 - Uncharacteristically low pricing
Finding a house that ticks all of the boxes and has a tiny price tag can feel like hitting the house hunter’s jackpot, but this is one pleasant surprise that often turns out to have a sting in its tail. Specifically, houses that are uncharacteristically affordable for their area/style/size tend to be hiding skeletons that you won’t want to unearth, including structural issues, future developments, etc.

In some extreme cases, a house may be hiding a potential hazard. This is especially true in older properties, as they can be riddled with asbestos. In this case, you have to remove the asbestos as safely as possible to lower the risk of certain health conditions and even cancers. If you were exposed to asbestos due to negligence, then look into a mesothelioma lawsuit that can provide you with the compensation you are entitled to.

So, instead of seeing dollar signs when you find a perfect house for less, do your research to make sure that your savings aren’t going to cost you big time down the line.

# 2 - A general lack of viewing availability
Every vendor has different standards/capabilities when it comes to holding viewings, but a lack of availability around key times like rush hour, school kick-outs, etc. can also act as a warning. As such, if you’re only able to view a house during the middle of the day when everything’s quiet, it’s again worth getting your detective hat on. Driving around the block during notoriously busy periods/times can be especially useful for helping you get a proper sense of how well you could maintain sanctuary here. Do your research, too, by looking out for any local schools or congestion areas that might ruin the peace if you were to move here. # 3 - Lights on in every room
It’s also well worth keeping an eye out for lights that are left on in every room during a viewing. This is a common real estate trick that points directly to the fact that the property you’re looking at struggles to get enough natural light. While this is perhaps less of a dealbreaker than other points mentioned, it can be a problem for some. If you’re looking for a light and spacious home that’s ready to go, you’ll definitely want to steer clear as a result of this telltale revelation.

No one wants to fall in love, or financially commit, to a property that isn’t as it seems. Make sure your home really is too good to be true by remembering these warning signs throughout your search.

Your Home’s an Investment: How To Protect It

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

You should primarily view your property as a space that’ll elevate your lifestyle, provide a safe and relaxing space for you and your family, and so on. However, it’s also important that you view your home as something else, too: an investment. If you manage this side of your property correctly, then you’ll find that your house can have a positive impact on your overall financial health rather than a negative impact. In this blog, we’ll look at some effective ways to do just that!

Invest In Your Property
You’ll already have spent a lot of money on your property. But it’s worthwhile looking at getting out the checkbook every now and again. If you invest in your property and help to make it better, then you’ll find that the value of the house moves in the right direction. There are some upgrades that you can make to your house that’ll bring a highly handsome return on investment. You might not like the idea of spending $10,000, but if it adds $30,000 to the value of your home, then it’ll be worth it.

Managing Risks
Of course, while there are things that can push the value in the right direction, there are also things that can drag the value down. It’s worthwhile looking at the risks that are posed to your home and taking steps to manage them ahead of time. It’s all about thinking about what might cause damage at some point and taking steps to handle them. For example, if you live in an area that receives heavy storms, then it’ll be worthwhile investing in impact windows and doors. You’ll hope that you never need to see what they can do, but if you do need them, then you’ll be happy that you made the investment.

Thorough Insurance
Every homeowner knows that they need home insurance. However, not every homeowner takes the time to check what their coverage actually covers. It’s important to remember that not all insurance policies are the same. Some are pretty basic and don’t cover as much as the policyholder may believe. When you’re taking out home insurance, be sure to look at what it’ll protect you from. You might be drawn in by a lower price, but if it doesn’t cover as much as you need it to, then you could end up paying in other ways.

Long-Term Financial Health
It’s important that you have other areas of your finances under control, too. Why? Because you’ll be in a better position to protect your home if your overall financial health is in check. You’ll need to make your monthly mortgage payments in order to keep your hands on your house. A strong financial footing will ensure that you’re always able to do that. As well as checking that the ins and outs of your finances are solid, also be sure to invest in your career -- if you’re going to pay your mortgage and other bills, you’ll need to have a job.

How to Choose the Best Car When Having a Family

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Choosing the best car for your family is a big decision. There are many things to consider that can make or break your experience with any given vehicle. One of the most important factors in determining what's right for you, is how many people will be riding in it on a regular basis. If you have more than four people who frequently ride in the vehicle, then you should strongly consider crossover vehicles or minivans. These types of cars provide much better passenger comfort and space when compared to sedans and hatchbacks! Below are a few tips for choosing the right family car.

1) Crossover Vehicles
Crossovers have become increasingly popular in recent years because of their combination of features that appeal to both families and single drivers. They typically provide more passenger space than sedans, as well as better fuel economy and all-wheel drive options for those living in colder climates. Families with young children will appreciate the built-in safety features that are available on most crossovers, such as rear view cameras, blind spot monitoring systems, and stability control. The only downside to choosing a crossover is that they can be more expensive than traditional sedans. But if you're looking for a car that will grow with your family, then a crossover is definitely worth considering!

2) Minivans
Minivans are the perfect choice for large families who need a lot of space. They offer more seating and cargo capacity than any other car on the market, and they come standard with features like rear view cameras and DVD players that can keep kids entertained on long trips. The only downside to minivans is their poor fuel economy, which can be a deal breaker for some people. If you're looking for a vehicle that will comfortably accommodate your whole family, then a minivan should definitely be at the top of your list!

3) Traditional Sedans
If you have a smaller family or just need a basic car for getting around town, then a traditional sedan is a good option. They're typically less expensive than crossovers and minivans, and they offer good fuel economy as well. Visit edmunds to find the perfect Sedan.  The only downside to sedans is that they don't provide as much passenger space as other types of vehicles. If you frequently have more than four people riding in your car, then you'll probably be more comfortable with a crossover or minivan.

4) Hatchbacks
Hatchbacks are a good choice for single drivers or families with only one or two children. They offer great fuel economy and plenty of cargo space, which makes them perfect for weekend getaways or trips to the grocery store. The downside to hatchbacks is that they can be cramped for larger families, and they don't typically come with as many safety features as other types of cars.

In conclusion,  choosing the right car when having a family depends on what types of features you're looking for. Crossovers, minivans, and sedans provide very different benefits that can make or break your driving experience. If you need more passenger space than most traditional cars offer, then crossovers are probably the best choice for families with children.

Tips for Renovating Your Backyard

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Are you thinking about renovating your backyard? If renovating your backyard is on your agenda for 2022 then you are probably searching for ideas about how to do it in the most affordable way.

Fortunately, it is very possible for you to do a renovation on your backyard very quickly and upgrade it into a space that will not only add value to your home but comfort as well. Here are some tips to get you started.

Add an Outdoor Kitchen
An outdoor kitchen is one of the best investments you can make for your home especially if you entertain a lot. When you have the kitchen outside you can have your guests sitting closer to the food. It also makes it easier for you to prepare food.

There's no need for you to be running in and out of the house to get supplies when the kitchen is close by. You can even add a fire pit from BBQGuys outside near the kitchen as well.

Add a Deck
Adding a deck to your home is one of the easiest ways to not add square footage to your home. It is also one of the best ways to add a comfortable place for you to relax and spend time with your family as well.

If you live in an area where you have good weather most of the year then adding a deck to your outdoor space can not only make your home have better curb appeal but it can also increase the value of your home as well.

Add Seating to Your Garden
Adding an outdoor seating area to your backyard is a good way to increase comfort outside. Outdoor seating is perfect for family gatherings and for entertaining guests.

The right kind of seating can be placed around a fire pit if you choose to do so, this will spruce up your garden quite nicely.

Get a Pool
Adding a pool to your backyard is one of those luxuries that you should definitely add to your home if you can afford it. Adding a pool will make your time in your backyard a lot more enjoyable.

You can even keep pool parties for your family and friends by the poolside. Everyone will have fun swimming and listening to music as well as eating by the poolside. It will also significantly increase the value of your home.

Start Improving Your Backyard
Your backyard should be a place where you find comfort and relaxation. By adding a few simple touches you can make your backyard a place where you like to relax in the afternoon with your friends and family.

It can also be a place where you go when you have good weather. Making your backyard comfortable does not have to break the bank and it does not take extraordinary ideas.

As you can see from the tips given, just adding a few touches here and there can significantly improve not only the value of your home but the comfort of your backyard as well.

4 Reasons To Eat Al Fresco

Candy WashingtonComment

Photo by Anna Tarazevich from Pexels

Hi lovelies,

Eating al fresco, or eating outdoors it's also known, has become an important part of our society. It's something incredibly wonderful, and it's different from what we do most of the time. However, maybe it should no longer be considered a luxury or a unique event; rather, dining al fresco should become 'the norm.' Here are some reasons why this could be a terrific way to live in the future.

More Space
When you dine outside, you can stretch out considerably more than when you eat indoors. There is just so much more space that even if you have a huge grill area complete with an outside kitchen and outdoor grill cabinet, there will be plenty of room to walk about and not get in anyone's way. When you consider the places other than your yard where you could dine – beaches, parks, woods, and so on – you'll see that there is even more room for everyone to be comfortable while being together.

When you're indoors, it might be difficult to gather in the kitchen to help with cooking or entertaining. Often, one person or a few people are left out, and no one is totally at ease. Outside, it's a different story; there's plenty of space for everyone to join in and have fun.

Eat Less
When we dine indoors, we often eat much more than we should. This is frequently due to the fact that we are not paying attention to the food on our plates; instead, we're watching TV or listening to music and eating mindlessly. We don't know we're full, which not only makes us uncomfortable, but it also causes us to gain weight.

This is less likely to occur when we eat outdoors. When we're around other people, the fact that we're chatting to them and enjoying their company causes us to eat more slowly, pausing between bites to converse. As a result, we give our bodies the opportunity to tell us when we're full. If we're dining alone, being outdoors in nature eliminates distractions, and we don't eat on autopilot, so we eat less than we would if we were eating indoors.

Relaxation
Relaxation is beneficial and something we should all practice more often. When we eat outdoors, we are not only benefiting our physical bodies by eating, but we are also benefiting our mental health by taking some much-needed time off to genuinely relax.

When you're outdoors, you can forget about work and any domestic problems you may be having. You can forget about everything that's bothering you and just enjoy the outdoors for what it is, perhaps with a picnic or a BBQ. When you return to 'real life,' you will feel more at ease, calm, and capable of dealing with any problems that arise. Of course, if there is any poison ivy around, you'll need to be careful, so don't be too relaxed and not notice it.

Nostalgia
If you go back to your youth, you probably ate outdoors a lot more than you do today. Taking a snack on an expedition or enjoying a picnic in their own garden is something that youngsters do without even thinking about it.

Adults, on the other hand, do not do this. There are restrictions in existence, or so it seems, which state that they are not permitted to have their lunch outdoors or prepare a picnic. These rules don't exist in reality; they are only traditions that have developed through time. If you want to savor some nostalgia, take your lunch outside or to a nearby park and spend some time reminiscing.

It's Never Too Late - Women, Say Yes to Healthy Living as you Cross the 60s

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

As they cross the 60s, women are more likely to suffer from chronic and ongoing health conditions. Some of the most popular ones include high blood pressure, arthritis, and osteoporosis. Also, their body undergoes significant changes like menopause, wrinkles, creases, and bruises.

Studies show that older women tend to have memory or "cognitive" problems. And, they often face difficulty in carrying out daily activities like walking, dressing, bathing, and walking without much help.

However, that doesn't mean that women after the 60s can't stay mentally and physically healthy. Health professionals from across the world recommend some ways to maintain good health. Some of these are:

  • Get Active:

A natural immune system booster is indulging in physical activity. Research shows that the greater you move, the more your body will fight off infections and inflammation.

Know that the activities you undertake don't have to be strenuous. Low impact exercises are practical. Therefore, it is wise to consider swimming, biking, walking, or low-impact aerobics. Try engaging in moderate-intensity activities for about 20-30 minutes a day and work out 150 minutes a week. You can consider strengthening your muscles by lifting weights or doing yoga.

Modify your exercise regime to find out the best for you.

  • Take Supplements:

Doctors today prescribe a lot of health supplements for supporting a healthy immune system. For instance, you can build better feminine care with a supplements kit for supporting yourself during menopause. Some other natural medications include vitamin D, vitamin B6, calcium, or vitamin B12.

Remember to take multivitamins and supplements to boost your immune system.

  • Eat a Rainbow:

The diets which have plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and others pledge to give your immune system a boost. These also protect you against harmful bacteria and viruses that cause illness.

Know that fruits and vegetables are a good source of antioxidants, which seek to protect your cells from damage. Also, they help to keep your body healthy. Make sure you limit your consumption of sugar as well as fatty foods. It is because these trigger inflammation and lower the immune system.

Try to limit your intake of alcohol. And, if restricting alcohol is not feasible, ensure reaching out to your doctor for knowing the safe amounts to drink in a day or week.

  • Manage Stress Effectively:

Chronic stress tends to increase the production of cortisol- the stress hormone. Know that too much cortisol tends to disrupt different body functions, including one's immune system.

Therefore, to reduce stress, make sure you increase your physical activity, get plenty of sleep and establish reasonable expectations for yourself. Ascertain to explore the activities that you enjoy and the ones that relax you.

Key Takeaways
As you get older, your body changes. Flu and other viruses can cause immense danger to you. While you can't prevent illnesses, try taking a proactive approach to strengthening your immune system.

Know that a robust immune system tends to keep you healthy and reduces your susceptibility to illnesses throughout the year.

Becoming More Sustainable In 2022 – 4 Accessories That Let You Go Green

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

It should not be that difficult for you to create a jewelry collection that is 100% sustainable and environmentally friendly in 2022. There are plenty of reasons to become more conscious about your jewelry purchase decisions. You can save hundreds of dollars and find yourself some really fine-looking and beautiful pieces without compromising on aesthetics or authenticity. Let's find out a few rules to follow when shopping for sustainable accessories in the coming year:

1. Recycled Gemstones

Recycled or ethically sourced jewelry pieces are created from old and scrapped pieces of jewelry that are no longer needed or left in stores, forgotten and uncared for. Several brands in the market believe in transparency and ethical recycling of precious metals and stones. If you come across any such brand, the best approach is to ask them relevant questions. Also, do not be hesitant when requesting verification for the authenticity of these recycled gemstones or ethically sourced diamonds.

2. Vintage Or Second Hand Pieces

You should know that old/ancient pieces of jewelry including secondhand pieces are going to cost you a lot less as compared to the brand-new designs that you have in the market. To create a new piece, a brand would require more resources, and to make a profit on their product, they would need to price it quite high in the retail market. So that leaves you a very practical option which is to go for second hand jewelry shopping. It could lead you to find some of the most beautiful, exquisite, and highly coveted vintage pieces that you would otherwise never come across. If you are looking for fine accessories, do not neglect the second-hand market.

3. Lab-Grown Stones Anyone?

People used to think that creating stones that resemble expensive and precious diamonds and other precious minerals is practically impossible. Wrapping your head around the concept of affordable lab grown emerald cut diamond jewelry or any other sustainable form of accessories was very difficult for everyone. But it has become the reality of the present generation. Lab-grown diamonds and similar stones are growing in popularity not only because they are sustainable and eco-friendly but because they do not have any side effects or harmful impacts on your health. The best part is that they have an identical chemical structure to the diamonds that are mined from the Earth but have a negligible carbon footprint.

4. Always A Clever Move To Look For The Labels

Give Your Man a Gift He'll Love This Holiday Season

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Once again, the holidays are just around the corner. Even if you think you’re prepared, before you know it Thanksgiving has come and gone, and you’re looking at the last few weeks before that final gift-giving deadline. Your man does a lot for you personally, and for you as a couple, so why not make sure he has a gift that absolutely blows his mind?

It might seem simple enough, but so often we fall into the trap of getting the same old things in newer versions. Instead of getting him another lineup of new workout shirts again, take an inventory of his interests and then take a look at this list to see if you can find a unique gift that he’ll love. We’ve scoured the internet for some of the coolest gift ideas so you don’t have to.

Trippy Tunes
If your man is a music fan, particularly the vinyl format, you can score some big points with him by getting him a few records to spin in his free time. No matter what he likes, from psychedelic Tame Impala vinyls to classic rock, and even oldies, there’s bound to be something he’ll appreciate. Just be sure you check his collection before ordering so you don’t end up with duplicates.

High-Tech Turntable
Whether you get him more records as a gift, or he already has an extensive vinyl collection, he is going to need a turntable to play them at their highest fidelity. However, chances are that he’s using an old turntable, maybe even one that he got from his parents.

Get him a solid upgrade by getting one of the many high-tech turntables that have hit the market recently. Not only do some have Bluetooth, but they even permit changing tracks and other operations with your smartphone.

A Symbol Of Your Love
No matter how long you have been together, renewing that commitment and dedication should be done as often as possible to keep that bond strong. Even if his original is still in relatively good condition, getting him a new, unique band from the Jaxxon collection of mens wedding bands can net you an amazing ring for a phenomenal man, at an unbelievable price.

Fancy Snacks
If you enjoy treating your man to some of the finer things in life, Imperia Caviar may have just the thing to impress your man. Whether you want to treat him to an incredible multi-course dinner featuring one of the most delicious delicacies out there, or just set him up a legendary charcuterie spread for a romantic afternoon or evening treat, caviar is the perfect starter. Sustainably sourced and priced affordably, you don’t often get a chance to obtain quality caviar like this, making it a wonderful gift and a memorable experience.

Summer Fun
Once the winter is over and the spring is in full bloom, if your man is the aquatic type, he’s going to be itching to go swimming soon. Getting him one or more fun pool floats is a great way to show him you know he loves the water, as well as showing that you are looking forward to spending the summer with him, floating, splashing, and laughing, together.

Portable Cool
Your man is cool, but sometimes you need a little extra cool to bring with you. This is where a Yeti cooler can be worth its weight in gold, even though they are priced incredibly reasonably. Considering they can keep your beverages and snacks cold for weeks (ok, probably not weeks, but definitely days!) they are the perfect companion to bring to the beach, the gym, tailgating, and anywhere else he may want to indulge in a frosty adult beverage, water, or sports drink.

Pocket Knife
While a pocket knife might seem like a pretty standard gift, most men will tell you that we receive far fewer knives as gifts, overall, than we would like. Knowing your man’s taste in pocket knives can help you pick out the perfect one, and the small ones make great stocking stuffers. Some guys like tactical knives, some like multi-tool style knives, but only you will know the one that fits your man the best.

Smart Equipment
If your man is a fitness buff or gym rat, he may already have a smartwatch, but that’s rookie stuff. There is a huge variety of smart fitness equipment that he is probably drooling over already. There are smart scales to take body measurements and smart weights that track your workout intensity and form. There are even smart mirrors that can allow him to work out side-by-side, virtually, with big names in fitness fame. Bigger toys are more expensive, but there are tons of options to choose from.

Muggin’
If your man is a coffee addict, java lover, or just someone that enjoys a cup or two in the morning, there is a strong chance that he would adore a coffee mug that is uniquely his. From some absolutely legendary memes to obscene phrases, and more, you can get just about anything on a coffee mug. Cruise some custom mug sites, and you can even get his goofy mug printed on his own cup so that nobody else at the office would dare use it!

Get Spicy
Lots of guys like spicy food, and hot sauce is like liquid gold to them. There are a ton of artisanal hot sauce companies selling delicious hot sauces with cosmically high Scoville ratings. If you like subscription boxes there are several that will get your man a monthly fix of some of the greatest hot sauces around every month. It’s the gift that keeps on burning.

Solve Crimes
If your man enjoys true crime, you may find a great gift option in one of the many “to catch a killer” type subscription boxes. They arrive at your home each month, packed with maps, statements, clues, evidence, and more, to help you profile the mind of a killer and bring them to justice. Not only can you two pour over each case together, but you can even leverage spoiler-free forums to help you if you get stuck.

Digital Assistant
Another idea for the super tech-savvy man, getting a digital assistant like one of the Alexas or Google Home models can let him control just about anything smart in his home just by speaking the request. These are particularly great for guys that have expansive media collections and would like to access them and play media simply by requesting it.

Hardware Wallet
For the man that is on the cutting edge of cryptocurrencies, the ultimate security is keeping your coins on a hardware wallet that is nearly impossible to breach. Far more secure than app or software wallets, a hardware wallet lets your man keep track of all his crypto, with some wallets supporting Bitcoin, Etherium, as well as hundreds of other altcoins.

Gifts Your Man Will Love
No matter what your man is into, there should be something on this list that will make him look at you with awe and appreciation. From high-tech toys to low-tech tools, spicy eats or fancy treats, use this list to help you find the perfect gift for your man this holiday season.

Removing Risks and Improving Safety Around The Home

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

The last thing you want is to live in an unsafe house. Your home should be a safe place for you to relax and enjoy. However, your home can become damaged and worn over time, and this can lead to hazards and dangers both visible and hidden becoming apparent. You need to identify any risks and know the warning signs that something is wrong to rectify them quickly.

This post looks at some common risks in the home and how you can rectify them.

Carbon Monoxide
Carbon monoxide is a silent killer that kills without being noticed. It is not detectable by smell, in contrast to gas. Following these steps will help you keep your family safe:

  • Make sure you have carbon monoxide detectors installed in your home and that you test them regularly.

  • Make sure your heaters are inspected at least once a year to avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

  • Some home security systems are equipped with carbon monoxide detectors, which will alert you if dangerous gas levels are detected in your home.

Fires
Over 356,000 fires broke out in homes across the United States last year, causing everything from minor smoke damage to complete devastation, as well as the deaths of 3,655 people. Even small things like candles or an unattended iron can cause accidental fires in your home, but there are things you can do to keep a house fire from getting out of hand. Avoid using open flames close to flammable materials or in spaces where they can be knocked over. Having an electrician assess your electrics, sparking sockets, heat from outlets, or warm walls can indicate a potential electrical issue.

Have a fire extinguisher to hand or a fire blanket for use if you need it.

Slips or Falls
This is an easy one to keep on top of. Make sure spills and debris are cleared from floors regularly, and slippery floors have mats on to aid stability when walking on floors. Use absorbent bath mats in the bathroom around baths and showers and keep wires or electrical cables clear from frequently used walkways to remove trip hazards.

Injury
Injuries around the home are relatively common, especially around the holidays when people prepare for the arrival of family members and celebrations. Letting your home fall into a poor state of repair can result in increased injuries as the damaged area can cause harm depending on what it is. Make sure anything that needs it is repaired quickly to remove the risk.

Keep sharp knives, blades and scissors kept closed away in a drawer or cupboard or out of reach of young children if applicable. Never put sharp knives in a sink full of water to avoid cutting yourself when putting your hand in the water.

Poisoning
In 2018, more than two million poisoning incidents were reported to poison control centers across the country, an increase from 2017. Poisoning hazards can be found in various everyday household items, including cleaning and home maintenance supplies.

However, with a bit of forethought and the appropriate knowledge, you can reduce the likelihood of accidental poisoning in your family. Use cupboard locks to ensure no children or pets can access harmful chemicals, and be vigilant about how and when you use your products to reduce the risk of accidental poisoning.

Have You Got Pets? Here's How to Keep Your Home Clean And Fresh

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Maintaining a tidy home can feel like an impossible task.  You might feel like you are constantly picking up after yourself and attempting to keep things neat, especially if this is something that you place a high value on. Even when the entire family contributes to the cleaning effort, it is still a significant undertaking. Adding a dog or other animal to the mix can make matters even more difficult.

When you are a dog or pet owner, you may notice that your four-legged friends have a habit of leaving large messes, as well as continuing issues such as fur and scents.

Is it feasible to have a home that is not only family and pet friendly, but also clean and well-maintained at the same time?

The answer is yes, if you follow the advice in this post.

Make sure your pet has plenty of exercise
In general, the more exercise you can ensure your dog gets outside, the less likely it is that you will witness accidents and other forms of havoc in the house. For example, if you have ever gone to work for the day and returned home to find your dog has ruined your couch, it is possible that your dog was feeling anxious and needed to go outdoors to relieve himself.

In the event that you are too busy throughout the day or are away from home, dog walking services might be incredibly handy.

This will assist you in preventing many of the most significant messes that your dog may cause throughout the day when you are not present.

Keep them clean
Keeping your pet clean might assist you in keeping your entire home sanitary. You will want to rinse your dog off with regular water on a frequent basis, and you will want to find a space in your home where you can keep your wet dog contained until he or she dries. A full bath with dog shampoo will also be necessary from time to time for your pet.

Additionally, regular trimming and de-shedding are required by many dog breeds, resulting in multiple trips to the groomer. You may also brush your dog outside on a daily basis to keep some of the excess hair from accumulating on your floors and furnishings, which would otherwise end up there.

Along with washing your pets, make sure you are frequently cleaning the areas where they like to sleep and play. Particularly important is that you wash your pet's bedding. Make sure you choose solutions that are machine washable; you may need to wash them as frequently as once a week due to the fact that they retain odor.

Buy a great vacuum
When you have a pet-friendly household, having a high-quality vacuum cleaner is a must-have. To effectively remove pet hair, dander, and allergens, you need a vacuum cleaner that is developed expressly for this purpose. Strong suction, a good brush that pulls the hair out with some power, and a good filter are all characteristics to look for in a vacuum cleaner.

To achieve the best results, you should look on the Vacuum Cleaner Market for one that is adaptable enough to work on various sorts of floors. You should also routinely clean your vacuum's filter. The fragrance of your pet will be disseminated throughout your home if your filter becomes clogged with debris.

Sprinkling baking soda on carpets and rugs before vacuuming can help to reduce odors by absorbing them.

Ideas to Maintain Your Home as a Sanctuary

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Your home is your safe space, your comfort, and your peace - it’s important that you keep it that way.

Not feeling at home can have drastic effects on your life: it can show up in your focus on work and your relationships without you realizing it.

To keep the peace, you’re going to have to make some changes. You have to make your sanctuary.

This can be as simple as some blankets on the sofa and a rug on the cold wooden floors to warm up your rooms. Small homey changes can really change the feel of a place.

Here are some ideas to get you going;

Set the Mood
A sanctuary is a place that feels like your own.

To set the mood, making some worthy investments will help you to feel at home. Having other people’s furnishings remove the sense of personalization, so bringing your own in will re-set this.

Little additions like pictures or big ones like your own furniture will set a tone of pride in your home space.

When doing activities in your home, take the time to set a mood that will make you feel at ease. This can be anything from opening all the windows to welcome some air in, to playing music or getting some lamps for the evening time.

It may not feel like much, but these subtle adjustments will quickly make you feel like your place is yours.

Keeping It Clean
You may be surprised how the cleanliness of your home affects your comfortability, particularly when you move into a new home.

Having your possessions in a new space is not always enough! Cleaning your home your way is a simple yet very effective way of adding a sense of belonging to your house - it belongs to you.

When you move into a new home, it is difficult to know how long it has been since the house was lived in. The longer that it has been unattended, the more likely it is for pests to find their way in.

To avoid any unwanted guests, looking into some pest control tips and tricks and working out any problems with your home early on will offer a little peace of mind and let you settle in.

Scents and Smells
Your sense of smell is one of the most important senses. You can attach memories to them, and most importantly, a smell can change the way that you feel.

If you have not tried essential oils before, this could be an opportunity to do so.

Starting with something subtle, such as peppermint or pine oil in your cleaning products to create a sense of freshness.

The evening is when you are at home the most; therefore, this is when you should have that sanctuary feeling in your home. Candles or oil burners with your favorite smells can create intimacy, safety, and serenity as you settle in for the night.

You deserve to feel safe and comfortable in your home. Welcoming in your personal items and taking time to make a space feels like it is yours will set the mood. Similarly, cleaning a place your way and filling it with smells that put you at ease will make this sanctuary yours to enjoy.

5 Sustainable Choices To Make Around Your Home

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

If you are looking to decorate your home in an eco-friendly way, there has never been a better time. More and more companies are seeing the benefit of creating eco-friendly products and are expanding their ranges to accommodate growing demand.

Keep in mind that replacing perfectly usable items isn't always as sustainable as you would like to think unless the things are going to be used by someone else. The key to sustainability is to make sure current items are used for as long as possible by yourself or donating to others so they can continue to use it for as long as possible.

So, what sustainable changes can you make to your home?

Upcycle
Give an item a new lease of life by giving it a fresh coat of paint to match a new color scheme. Or maybe if you are handy, you can take it apart and rebuild it into something fresh and new. Have you seen the garden bench made from an interior door? If you need some inspiration on upcycling around your home, head to Instagram to find some sustainable positive influencers or use popular hashtags to find like-minded accounts (#zerowaste #sustainableliving #recycle #ecoliving). Or head to interest to find some awe-inspiring inspiration.

Sustainable Materials
Bamboo and organic cotton are big in sustainable living, and for a good reason. They are kinder to the environment during manufacturing, plus they are designed to last and wear well for a variety of different uses. You can buy a wide range of natural wood products. For example, reclaimed wood is optimal if you want to push your eco-credentials, and cork along with glass are other excellent sustainable materials.

Eco Designs
While not all home decor items are made from sustainable materials, eco-friendly buying products is a great compromise. Think LED bulbs to reduce the energy you use when turning lights on and off; honeycomb blackout shades can help you to preserve energy and heat in your home by covering windows, rugs on hardwood flooring can heat a room, and reduce heat loss through wooden flooring and so on. Thinking about your purchase and how it can save you money on bills or assessing its useability can help you to make more sustainable choices.

Buy Plants
Carbon dioxide is taken up by houseplants and converted to oxygen by them. They also absorb a large amount of hazardous poisons and pollutants, which helps to purify the air. In order to improve your green credentials in a straightforward (and elegant) manner, consider adding a houseplant or two to each area of your home.

Avoid Carpets
If you want to be as ecologically friendly as possible when remodelling your home, you should skip carpeting entirely. Due to its high concentration of chemicals and pollutants, it not only hurts the environment when it is created, but it also releases a wide range of contaminants into your home over the course of its lifetime. Furthermore, even the most durable carpet will only last for about a decade before it will need to be replaced again.

When it comes to changing your flooring, real wood is always the best choice if you want to be as environmentally conscious as possible.

The Art Of Simplistic Living

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Simplicity is a concept that can be applied to everything in life. Some use simplicity for organization, others may find peace of mind through simplicity; It's all up to the individual. Simplicity applies to clothing, food, games, schedules, and even technology.

Simplistic living does not mean one can live like an impoverished person with nothing but a pot and utensils (although the option is always available if wanted). Simplistic living means one has found ways in which they do not need every possession in front of them to function in daily life.

The benefits
Many people struggle to simplify their lives due to boredom or fear of giving up what they have become accustomed to. However, simple living can provide a person with many benefits, the most important being time. With fewer distractions and stress from material items to occupy one's time, simple living can improve productivity.

Technology today
A big issue in today's society is the separation of oneself from technology. Technology is a crucial part of daily life that everyone needs to accomplish even minor tasks, such as paying bills or shopping online. Many people have become obsessed with their cell phones due to apps for games and social media sites, causing them to be out of touch with those around them. When simplified, however, there is an improved quality within relationships through better communication because more attention is paid to those around you rather than behind a screen. Another benefit of simplified living is better posture due to less time sitting in front of a screen.

Many times technology can work for you rather than against you. Like the speedometer on your car's dashboard, it is meant to assist you while driving to measure distance and help increase awareness of how fast one is going. Technology can also aid when living more minimally by forgetting essential tasks such as laundry or grocery shopping.

Busy schedules
By simplifying life, busy schedules are easier to manage due to fewer distractions and fewer material items that need organization. Living simply allows one to live with fewer responsibilities, be more independent, and appreciate what they have accomplished in their day versus what they didn't get done at home because chores were left for later. Simplicity can improve your mindset by being aware of how much good you are doing for the world through recycling, volunteering, or donating to the less fortunate in the process.

Overcome obstacles
Living simply is not easy in today's society because it involves effort and willpower. Everyone in society is used to different conveniences to function in daily life, making it challenging to hire movers and give up material possessions in simple living. However, when challenges are conquered within simplistic living, one becomes more prepared to overcome obstacles when they arise in their life, necessitating additional changes. Simplistic living creates a vision for an ideal future that allows individuals to become lifelong learners who are better equipped for change emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Beautiful journey
The art of simplistically living is not easy to master but can become a beautiful journey when understanding the true meaning behind simplifying one's life. By removing distractions in our lives, we learn who we are and how nothing should be more important than the time spent with family and friends.

5 Ways To Bring Positive Vibes To Your Living Space

Candy WashingtonComment
Screenshot 2021-09-29 11.29.32 AM.png

Hi lovelies,

Happy and comfortable living spaces are all about positive vibes and high energy. They affect your mood and health and even have an impact on your relationships. Not surprisingly, homeowners are willing to go the extra mile to make their living spaces full of happy energy and good vibes. While your mindset can make a difference, a lot depends on the look and feel of your place. Only a few decor changes can elevate it without much work. Here are the ones you can implement to bring in positive vibes effortlessly.

Deck up the walls with your favorite color

Color has a magical influence, and it can do wonders for your living space. Decking up the walls with your favorite hues is a good way to bring positivity into your rooms. Soothing hues are ideal for bedrooms, while you can brighten up the living room with a contrasting accent wall. Create appealing contrasts with furniture, rugs, and furnishings, and you have a place worth loving.

Let the natural light in

Sunlight gets energy into your home, so let in as much as you can. Have tall windows and draw the curtains for a few hours every day. You will feel an instant lift in your mood even when things aren't going great. Keep the window panes clean and remove any furniture or objects blocking the light. Natural light also ensures good health as it kills the germs that harbor indoors.

Perk up the decor with neon lights
Natural light can add positive vibes during the day, but you need good lighting for the darker hours. Create focal points with floor lamps and hang fairy lights for extra shine. If you want to perk up the decor with a personalized touch, led neon signs make an excellent addition to the decor. Pick a custom sign that inspires you and makes you happy. It is a small investment that goes a long way in making your home a cheerful haven.

De-clutter often
Clutter is the worst thing to have in your living space as it looks unappealing and brings negative vibes. Think beyond spring cleaning and make decluttering a monthly task. Start by picking room by room and get rid of everything you no longer need or plan to use in the foreseeable future. Clear up your wardrobe, bookshelves, and even kitchen cabinets. You will feel a lot happier and lighter after completing the project.

Make your home green
Green homes boast positive vibes, and you need not spend a fortune on them. Buy the best indoor plants and place them around the house. They require little maintenance but add aesthetics and good vibes. You can even create a vertical garden on the living room or kitchen wall. The indoor air will be fresher, and you will feel an energy flowing in your place when you have greenery around.

A home with positive vibes is desirable for every homeowner, and it is surprisingly easy to bring them into your place. Just follow these easy and inexpensive tips, and you can have a healthier and happier living space.

4 Things Every Woman Should Have Taken Care Of

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Every woman should have taken care of different things in their lifetime. However, life is unpredictable and can change at any time- so make sure you've done what needs to be done before it's too late! In this blog post, you'll find four things every woman should have sorted, no matter what!

#1 Your will and testament
You should make sure you've sorted and updated your will and testament every few years to ensure it is still relevant in case of an emergency or sudden death. Your estate attorneys should always have up-to-date information about your assets so that the correct beneficiaries are named, which can prevent unnecessary disputes after they pass away.

Finally, you need to name at least one executor - this is the person responsible for carrying out the wishes within your will when you die. This includes dealing with outstanding debts, taxes, or funeral costs before distributing what's leftover from your estate among those you have chosen to receive something! Once everything has been distributed, then go ahead; if there are items remaining that you wish to donate, you can do so then.

#2 Your health insurance
It's important to take care of your health insurance, even if you are healthy. Health insurance is something that needs to be taken seriously and can protect both individuals and their families should anything happen unexpectedly. It doesn't matter who the policyholder (the person named on the health insurance) is; it could be an individual or a family group; this will cover anyone in need during times of illness or accidents, which means it would pay for any treatment needed as well as hospital stays!

#3 Your savings
It's important to save money for a rainy day (or even an unexpected sunny one), and this is where you should make sure there are funds available in case of emergency. Savings can be placed into different types of accounts, such as savings or current accounts, which allow the individual access to their cash whenever needed.

However, they will not earn high-interest rates on these kinds of accounts, making them better suited for short-term goals like saving up for holidays rather than something more long-term like retirement! To ensure that your future financial needs are met, then it might be worth considering opening an account with higher returns, but that requires a longer investment account.

#4 Your life insurance
Life insurance is something that all women should have. It's generally a good idea to get life insurance even if you are healthy, as it can protect your loved ones financially in the event of an unexpected death or tragedy. This type of cover provides vital financial support for those left behind after the policyholder has passed away unexpectedly and ensures that their bills are paid off until they can sort out their affairs without having to worry about money problems during this difficult time!

Some people choose to use savings accounts instead to build up funds over time that another family could use when needed; however, using these means that the money can't be used until a specific time or date, which could leave your loved ones financially vulnerable.

Home Maintenance: Keeping Your Property At Its Best

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

We all want our homes to look and feel as pristine and comfortable as possible. At the end of the day, these are the spaces where we spend the most of our time and they’re also the spaces that we want to relax and unwind in, or even entertain friends in. The better they are, the better we can generally feel while spending time in them. On top of this, our homes tend to be the most expensive thing we spend money on. Whether you’re buying or renting, you’re forking out a lot on this space and it’s a good idea to maintain its value - whether that’s to sell it on itself or to retain your deposit from your landlord when you eventually move out. Here are just a few home maintenance tips that can help you to keep on top of the space.

Keep On Top of Routine Cleaning
There are certain cleaning tasks that need to be carried out on a regular basis to keep your home clean and tidy. Some examples tend to include wiping down kitchen work surfaces, cleaning the hob, loading and unloading the dishwasher, vacuuming and dusting. These don’t have to be too time consuming, you just need to keep on top of them so they don’t build up and become overwhelming to face. Create a loose cleaning routine and get into the habit of routine cleaning.

Deep Clean
Of course, there are cleaning tasks that you won’t have to complete on a day to day basis. But it’s still important that you tackle them every once in a while as part of a deep cleaning process. Deep cleaning can clean the areas that are often missed. Some examples include carpet cleaning (to lift ground in dirt), cleaning the toilet, cleaning the inside of the oven, wiping down skirting boards and more.

Prevent Unwanted Visitors
Unless you have a pet in your home, chances are, you don’t want animals roaming around. Whether that’s insects, mice or anything else. Even with a pet, you’re not going to want wildlife in your home. So, it’s important to prevent these animals from entering your home. Cleaning up food can prevent ants. Sealing food properly can remove temptation from rodents. Sealing gaps and holes can prevent anything coming in and out. If you do end up with animals that are destroying your property and are difficult to remove humanely, such as termites, you may want to contact pest control

Decorate
Decorating can do more than change the look or aesthetic of your home. It can simply freshen it up a bit too! Over time, dirt, handprints, paw marks and other marks can appear on your walls. Wiping them down and giving the walls a fresh lick of paint - whether in a different colour or in the same colour - you can make your home feel new again!

These are just a few suggestions to get the ball rolling. Hopefully, some will prove useful and will help you to keep on top of your home!
