Hi lovelies,

Nobody likes to get a wound. Depending on the extent of the injury, a wound can be merely painful or potentially septic. It leaves the internal tissues of the body unprotected from environmental hazards.

You may be able to tend a minor wound at home. However, you should seek medical attention if you have a severe injury that involves excessive bleeding and fractured bones.

Even though most wounds heal naturally after a while, it is possible to make your wound heal faster. Read on for more information on the tips you can use to speed up your healing and when to seek medical attention.

How to Speed Up Your Healing

Use Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is a plant that is a member of the cactus family. It is rich in minerals and vitamins. Also, Aloe Vera has a glucagon substance, which enhances the body’s ability to secrete collagen. Collagen is a protein that aids in healing wounds.

Studies show that Aloe Vera is effective for healing wounds and second-degree burns. Moreover, it can aid in secreting the skin’s moisture while preventing ulcers.

Apply a small amount of Aloe Vera gel on the wound area or even cover the wounded area with a bandage soaked in Aloe Vera. This will help the wound heal faster.

Open Wound Treatment
If you have an open wound, you might need to use wound care supplies for treatment.

First, clean your hands using soap and clean water. Then move your clothing away from the wound. Stop bleeding by applying pressure to the injury. Clean the wound using a saline solution.

Secondly, check the wound for foreign materials and dirt. Apply antibiotic ointment to prevent infections from occurring.

Finally, pat the wound using a clean cloth, then cover the injury using a Band-Aid or an adhesive bandage.

If it is an infected wound, leave it open until the infection clears.

Use Antibacterial Ointments
You can also treat a wound using antibacterial ointments, which you can get over-the-counter. Antibacterial ointments help prevent infections and make the wound heal faster.

These ointments are typically used for minor injuries. If you don’t have any cream, you could use petroleum jelly instead because it acts as a barrier protecting the wound from the surrounding factors.

Honey
Honey holds a special place in traditional medicine and was used to alleviate numerous diseases. It is an effective treatment for wounds, thanks to its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.

Research suggests that honey increases the rate at which wounds heal in animals. It reduces the formation of scars and bacterial growth in the wounded areas.

Moreover, honey heals partial-thickness wounds better than other treatments. However, honey can cause more infection in post-operative wounds. You can use honey for your major and minor injuries if approved by your doctor.

Garlic
Garlic has a compound known as allicin which has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.

Many studies have consistently shown the efficiency of garlic in healing wounds. In one study, an ointment with 30% garlic enhanced more proliferating fibroblasts than petroleum jelly. Garlic has a positive effect, and it also speeds up the healing of wounds.

Conclusion
Minor wounds should not be cause for alarm, and they often don’t require medical treatment. However, it would be best if you kept your wound clean and well-dressed using a sterile bandage. You can then use your desired method to speed up the healing process of your wound.

However, if your wound is large, be sure to seek medical attention.
