Making Your Home Smell Amazing

Hi lovelies,

There’s nothing like walking into a home that smells divine, especially if that home happens to be yours, which is why I’ve put together a list of some of the simplest ways to make sure your home always smells great, most of which are completely chemical-free…

Open the windows
Opening the windows lets bad odors escape and fresh, clean air get in, so it is a no-brainer that opening your windows each morning is the starting point for a beautiful smelling home.

Clean the carpet
Whether you opt to have professional carpet cleaners come in and remove all of the odors trapped in the fabric or you go down the DIY route of sprinkling your carpet switch baking soda and essential oils. Leaving for an hour and then vacuuming, anything you can do to clean up your carpet will help to leave your home smelling fresher because carpets are a prime candidate when it comes to trapping bad smells.

Always have fresh flowers in your home
Not only do fresh flowers add a pretty flourish to your home, but they also smell pretty amazing too, so having a vase of your favorite roses or jasmine in every room will help your home to smell truly divine.

Invest in an aromatherapy diffuser
Aromatherapy diffusers are something every home should have. All you need to do is place a small amount of water, and a few drops of your favorite essentials oil blend into the well, and the aromatherapy diffuser will fill your home with a fine, naturally scented mist that will linger long after you’ve turned the device off.

Use cotton balls
In the cooler months, when you have your heaters switched on, a really good trick is to soak cotton balls in your favorite essential oil - sweet orange or tea tree are particularly good and place them behind the heaters. The heat will then diffuse the oil around the room so you always come home to a warm, fresh-scented place.

Add dryer sheets to the garbage can
Garbage cans are a prime source of bad smells in the home. The good news is you can counteract their stink by placing a dryer sheet or two right on top. It will help to absorb bad smells while also perfuming the area with that fresh laundry smell.

Sizzle stovetop potpourri
One of the best ways to really make your home smell divine is to make stovetop potpourri. What’s that you might ask? Basically, it’s a simmering pot filled with water and various spices. A good recipe would be a few cinnamon sticks, some dried orange peel, a handful of rosemary, and a handful of dried cranberries, but feel free to experiment with your own recipes so that you can match the scent of your home to your own personal taste.

Apart from keeping your home clean and tidy at all times, the above are all excellent ways to help you make your home smell amazing come what may so why not try them out today?
