Erin Fetherson, The Everyday Ethereal Beauty: NYFW Spring/Summer 2016

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

What struck me most about the Erin Fetherson's 2016 Spring/Summer collection during New York Fashion Week, besides the who's who of fashion 'It' girls in the front row that included Cory Kennedy, Stassi Schroeder, Ana Villafane, Karen Erickson, Natalie Joos, and more, was how delicate yet accessible her pieces were, combining her signature romantic vision with a minimalist sensibility.

Erin's muse was half Jane Birkin and half Anne of Avonlea, and it showed in her long white pieces that are perfect for today's Coachella or the 60's Woodstock, yet was able to avoid being labeled as a 'boho-chic' cliché. Perhaps this was due to the influence of the bucolic impressions of David Hamilton and Deborah Tuberville.

I loved the sky blue looks that were strategically sprinkled in-between the angelic and flowy white ensembles. The soft color added a bit of coquettish defiance to the arcadian reverie mood of the entire show. This was also shown in the model's natural-looking make-up and relaxed hairstyles. My favorite pieces were embroidered tulle, organza, paired with fluid silks that were constructed in clean and languid lines. My must-have piece from the collection was one of these embroidered pieces with a mint collar and hem with red and black throughout.

More about the collection:
Slips make the season's statement, both long and short, layered beneath billowy chiffon dresses or topped with pleated capelets. Prints inspired by needlepoint embroidery evoke scrolling roses and scattered blossoms. Separates offer an infusion of texture by way of pointelle knits and swiss dot blouses alongside culottes, shorts, and overalls in a range of soft denim and tweed. Fetherston introduces a charming capsule of minaudieres to her collection, each one delicately stitched with monograms and 'bon mots', perfectly capturing the convivial spirit of the season.

Additional attendees included Ken Downing, Andrew Bevan, Gabe Saporta, and more.

Wendy Williams is back! Hot Topic: Serena and Drake - real or fake?

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

I was lucky enough to score a personal shout out from one of my personal icons, Wendy Williams.

The multi-media mogul is back in a big way and kicks-off her new season with some juicy Hot Topics.

I have to agree with her on this one, Drake is definitely a late-night snack and Serena needs to keep her eyes on the prize!

Who doesn't want to date a hot hedge fund guy over a guy still doing drive-bys with Nicki Minaj?

HOT QUESTION:

What do you guys think? Serena and Drake - real or fake?

3 Ways to End Summer In Style Featuring Courtney Allegra Swim

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Even though Los Angeles is the land of endless sun, sand, heat waves, and being beach-body ready 365 days of the year, the true summer season is quickly coming to an end. But worry not my summer lovers, I have 3 fun and easy ways to end summer in style and usher in the fall with effortless ease.

#1: Treat yourself to new beach and poolside outfits

My go-to for a quick feel good is retail therapy of course. So while I'm soaking up the sun on the beach or sipping Mai Tai's by the pool, I want to look stylish and chic while doing it. That's why I love wearing the Australia Top paired with the Miami Bottom, both in Bronzer by Courtney Allegra Swim.

So end your summer in style with a new bathing suit and regardless of your body type, be fierce and fearless and opt for the bikini and love your body with confidence.

Fashion tip: Accessorize your look your look by adding a long necklace, a flash body tattoo, or an arm-cuff.

#2: Take a staycation

Already used up all of your vacation days? No worries. Take a staycation at home. Sneak out of the office early and hit up a cool tourist attraction in your city that you've never been to. If you're looking to splurge a bit and really get the most out of your staycation, rent a hotel room in your city and take full advantage of the pool, bar, and spa services.

If you want a more low-key staycation, run a bubble bath, pop some champagne, and light some candles. Then after you're done, go out side and lay on a blanket and star gaze while listening to your favorite music.

#3: Go dark for a weekend

This is probably the toughest of all three but would actually be the most fulfilling. Go offline for an entire weekend, which means no social media (I think I would die without Instagram), cell phones, iPads, Wi-Fi, TV, radio, etc.

Find the beauty in connecting in-real-life with people and having in-person conversations. And perhaps, gasp!, you could even read a book or catch up on your magazines. If I can muster up the strength to go completely dark for a weekend, I would definitely write in my journal. What would you do during your offline time?

If you found this fun and easy ways to end your summer in style, be sure to share with your friends and like the article.

I was able to collect 300 ifcoins and used them like cash to buy these amazing MIISTA Amaya Navy Autumn Garden Print Heels, which retail for $270.

What do you guys think of the clear heel? I’m obsessed with the print and pattern of these shoes. I plan to style them with a white shirtdress, sunnies, a dark brown arm-cuff, and a chocolate brown felt hat.

How would you rock them? Comment below and share this article with friends!

White Hot: BBQs and Davy Wayne's

Candy Washington1 Comment

Hi lovelies,

As summer is creeping to an end and with the hustle and bustle of New York Fashion Week right around the corner, I want to get in as much of all-white everything outfits that I possibly can.

I also want to get in as much fun with friends with endless nights of laughter, inside jokes, and relaxing in the sun.

To that end, this weekend I reconnected with an old friend from my NYC days that now dwells in the city of angels and it felt like nothing had changed, like no time had passed. Sort of what it feels like when Fall replaces Summer and in a blink of an eye you wonder where the time has gone.

candy washington style blogger

We ate burgers, mine with cheese of course, drank spiked lemonade, and made so much noise laughing and dancing that the downstairs neighbor came up to give us a good scolding on how not to be so loud on a Sunday night.

We feigned apologies and then reminisced about how it felt like old college days and someone called campus security to give us a noise violation. And then of course, we promptly turned the music back up and laughed just a little bit harder.

After a short Uber ride, we found ourselves at one of our favorite haunts, the infamous Good Times at Davy Wayne’s, the speakeasy where you enter through a refrigerator door, and it lived up to its name because we definitely had a good time.

I’m looking forward to a few more endless nights before the leaves start to roll in and white hot quickly transitions to winter white.
