Hi lovelies,
What struck me most about the Erin Fetherson's 2016 Spring/Summer collection during New York Fashion Week, besides the who's who of fashion 'It' girls in the front row that included Cory Kennedy, Stassi Schroeder, Ana Villafane, Karen Erickson, Natalie Joos, and more, was how delicate yet accessible her pieces were, combining her signature romantic vision with a minimalist sensibility.
Erin's muse was half Jane Birkin and half Anne of Avonlea, and it showed in her long white pieces that are perfect for today's Coachella or the 60's Woodstock, yet was able to avoid being labeled as a 'boho-chic' cliché. Perhaps this was due to the influence of the bucolic impressions of David Hamilton and Deborah Tuberville.
I loved the sky blue looks that were strategically sprinkled in-between the angelic and flowy white ensembles. The soft color added a bit of coquettish defiance to the arcadian reverie mood of the entire show. This was also shown in the model's natural-looking make-up and relaxed hairstyles. My favorite pieces were embroidered tulle, organza, paired with fluid silks that were constructed in clean and languid lines. My must-have piece from the collection was one of these embroidered pieces with a mint collar and hem with red and black throughout.
More about the collection:
Slips make the season's statement, both long and short, layered beneath billowy chiffon dresses or topped with pleated capelets. Prints inspired by needlepoint embroidery evoke scrolling roses and scattered blossoms. Separates offer an infusion of texture by way of pointelle knits and swiss dot blouses alongside culottes, shorts, and overalls in a range of soft denim and tweed. Fetherston introduces a charming capsule of minaudieres to her collection, each one delicately stitched with monograms and 'bon mots', perfectly capturing the convivial spirit of the season.
Additional attendees included Ken Downing, Andrew Bevan, Gabe Saporta, and more.
