3 Fashion Blogger Tips for a Stylish Summer

StyleCandy Washington3 Comments

Hi lovelies,

It’s officially Memorial Day Weekend, which means that summer is about to officially kick-off!

If you’re ready to unleash your inner fashionista while soaking up some sun, living poolside, and making lasting memories with your friends and family, then check out my top three style must-haves to have your most stylish summer yet.

#1: Have your go-to summer style uniform

I always love layering, even in the summer. My go-to summer style uniform is black tights, denim cut-offs, a black tank top, black studded heels, and a printed kimono.

#2: Have your go-to signature sunglasses

One of my favorite accessories to complete any outfit is a pair of signature shades. This summer, I’m obsessed with the iconic Aviator silhouette by Ray-Ban.

#3: Have your go-to sunscreen

We all want that bronze and golden glow, but we have to make sure to protect our skin from sun damage, lines, wrinkles, and aging, by layering up with a sunscreen that leaves your skin smooth and protected without any oily, flaky, or white residue.

My favorite sunscreen for summer has to be Supergoop Super Power Mousse SPF 50.

Barkwood: The New "It" Fashion Brand

StyleCandy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

One of my favorite things about being a fashion blogger is discovering the next big thing in fashion and style and then sharing it with you guys - and that's exactly what happened when I was introduced to the latest "It" brand in fashion, Barkwood.

I instantly fell in love with their classic yet trendy collection of Schoolgirl Plaid trousers and signature Lamb Moto Leather dresses. The fashion line also features a universal color palette of looks that are relevant from season to season.

In celebration of the launch of the new brand, they held an innovative installation preview called, "The Destination is the Journey," which was curated by Lost Found Decor. The installation showcased two sets of 10 looks with draped silhouettes. The concept behind the installation was to effortlessly telling the story of a group of friends on a journey, who ultimately finds themselves in a rural location.

Held inside Studios 60, a warehouse filled with some of fashions finest influencers, who captured selfies at the Barkwood embossed wall, signature drinks by Mixologist LA included the "Tomboy Chic" and "Barkwood Girl," it was a launch party not-to-be-missed.

According to the head designer and founder of Barkwood, Charniece White, she wanted "the inspiration for the collection, to be transitional and made for the girl who can 'run in the mud.'" She continues as says, "I wanted to people feel "fearless, weightless, classless, ageless, and boundless."

LM x Catt Sadler

StyleCandy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Last night I had the pleasure of celebrating the launch of the Jacki bag, the newest collaboration between famed handbag designer Lulu Johansen Eschelman and E! News/Daily Pop icon and The Catt Walk CEO, Catt Sadler

The soirée was held at LaPiazza Ristorante at the Grove and we enjoyed yummy bites and bubbly during the unveiling of the limited edition handbag line. Beyond how beautiful and functional the Jacki bag is, the message and purpose behind the collection is even more inspiring.

Half of all of the proceeds from the LMxCatt collaboration with go to the Women Like Us Foundation. During the celebration we watched an inspiring documentary on Catt, her mother's, and Lulu's experience at the Olmailaika Home in Kenya and I was touched by the women's journey, strength, .

Additionally, girls from the home contributed beautiful and authentic Kenyan beading to each handbag.

You can shop and contribute here.

Hi lovelies,

During the decadent and a who's who of Young Hollywood party debuting the latest fashion collaboration with PrettyLittleThing x Olivia Culpo, I fell in love with the romantic collection.

Olivia is a beautiful and talented actress, model, television presenter, cellist, and Miss USA, and her fashion collection did not disappoint. Ever since being introduced to her collection, I've been wearing the pieces from photoshoots, to dates, to red carpets.

The collection is heavy on the lace, is form-fitting in all of the right places, and primarily uses the color palette of black, white, and red. See below for why PrettyLittleThing x Olivia Culpo is the must-have fashion collection for Fall.

Quickshoelace x Fall Fashion

StyleCandy Washington3 Comments

Hi lovelies,

Nothing says back-to-school, back-to-working-out, and fall into Fall fashion, than a new pair of shoes. So whether you're rocking a new pair of sneakers, Converse, combat boots, and everything in-between, the essential shoe accessory of the season is the Quickshoelace.

Quickshoelace are elastic laces that you simply stretch, clip, and go. You place a ring on one of the ends of the laces and then easily clip it to a metal piece to effortlessly lace your shoes.

Each pair comes with a set of 4 metal clips and my favorite colors are the solid black and the solid pink, but they come in over a dozen Basic colors that you can check out here, and even more Neon colors are available here.

But if you're like me and you're looking for statement laces with a fashion flair and metallic finish, then check out their Prestige lace collection here. These laces are so stylish that they are coated with 24-karat gold.

What I love most about the Quickshoelace is that you can quickly and easily update your look by simply switching up the color of your laces. You can revamp and upgrade any outfit by making a statement with your shoes.

Another style tip is to mix-and-match the color of your shoelaces for an added fashion twist. I love mixing a metallic color with a neon color or a basic color with a neon color, but the options for mixing and matching are endless.

Let me know how you wear your laces below!
