Hi lovelies,
Closets are very versatile and provide you with plenty of storage space to keep your clothes nice and organized. However, did you know there are some right and wrong ways of storing your clothes? It might sound crazy, but it's true! Here are the dos and don'ts of keeping your clothes in a closet:
Do: Keep them organized
Have an organizational system in place so you know where all of your clothes are at all times. It makes life so much easier as you can move to whatever shelf you like to find your shorts, skirts, jeans, etc. The worst habit to get into is just chucking all your clothes in the closet when they're clean - this will make the whole thing an absolute mess!
Don't: Forget to fold clothes before putting them away
Folding your clothes neatly is essential for a couple of key reasons. Firstly, it gives you more space in your wardrobe and helps to keep it organized. Secondly, it prevents your clothes from getting massive creases if they aren't hung up. Too many people chuck their clothes into a closet or fold them terribly and wonder why they're completely crinkled and creased when they get them out.
Do: Use clothes moth traps
One of the main downsides of using a closet is that they become hotbeds for clothes moths. These little moths aren't harmful to you in any way, but they will damage your clothes. They can lay eggs in your clothing, eat through the fibers, and just generally make your wardrobe smell a bit weird. With pheromone clothes moth traps, you have a non-toxic way of trapping these moths and stopping them from entering your clothes. The result will be clothed without little holes in them, and clothes that smell a lot better too.
Don't: Forget to hang as much up as possible
While most closets have a lot of shelves you can use to keep your clothes, the best approach is to hang as much of your stuff up as possible. Especially if you have dresses, shirts, tops, trousers, jeans, and so on. Hanging these up will keep them less creased, meaning you might not need to iron them when you next want to wear them. So, try to maximize as much hanging space as you possibly can.
Do: Use scented sachets
You can find all sorts of scented sachets or small little bags filled with a scented substance that are perfect for closets. The idea is that you place them in the closet and they diffuse a nice scent around inside. It's a brilliant way of preventing that typical musty odor that comes when your clothes have been stuck inside a closet for too long. A really simple way of making sure your clothing smells lovely.
Now that you're armed with these tips, you can organize your closet and keep your clothes in the best possible condition. From here on out, you'll be wearing clothing that's less creased and smells nice, with the added benefit of being able to find what you need in seconds!
