Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Summer is the time for many events and holidays, and if you have some invites for summer weddings that you are trying to figure out an outfit for, you are not alone! We are approaching wedding season, and while outfits at any time of the year can be both fun yet challenging to figure out – a wedding outfit is something extra special and it can be hard to find the right thing. Luckily summer time makes it a little easier because you don’t often have to consider quite as many layers, but taking that time to still plan your outfit can make all the difference in how you feel.

How to dress for a summer wedding
Between weather, different venue types and formality on top of the usual outfit there is a lot to consider and add to your outfit search for summer weddings.

Here are some go-to outfits for summer weddings by formality:

Formal
For a formal event, think a long dress or an elegant pantsuit. Silk is a popular fabric nowadays that is perfect for a formal wedding because it is elevated and looks incredible while also being breathable and comfortable. This is the time to wear your simple yet elegant jewelry like the pieces from Messika in Milan for example, particularly if you have a more classic rest of your outfit and if it is a black tie/formal wedding reception. So whether you are partial to pearls or something sparkly this is an event to wear those fancy outfits and jewelry pieces to.

Semi-formal
A semi-formal outfit is more elevated but not as much so as the formal event. This is a great event to wear a maxi dress, a jumpsuit, or a high-low hemline dress with a pair of heeled sandals or wedges that are on the fancy side. When it comes to color, a neutral or a darker color will look more elegant and better suit and blend into what other guests are wearing. If you go more casual on the dress side, go a bit more elevated on the hair and accessory side and vice-versa. This will help you find that perfect balance that a semi-formal event calls for.

Casual
Casual wear for a summer weddings means you can really get creative with fabrics, prints and cuts. Floral dresses that are off the shoulder or with a V-neck are a popular choice during the summer months, particularly in breathable fabrics or if inside, ones that elevate it enough to pair with a casual pair of heeled sandals. Wear your hair up with a pair of statement earrings with a dressier outfit, or your hair down with more toned-down accessories.

There is so much that goes into planning weddings, so it is important to always respect the dress code. In the days leading up to the event, keep an eye on the weather forecast just in case and have a layer and other shoe option on stand-by if needed! It can help save a lot of pre-wedding attendee stress that is worth the extra bit of planning so you can fully enjoy the event.
