Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

In the digital and on-the-go world that we live in, I'm always on the constant hunt for the perfect pair of headphones to accompany me while I'm blogging from the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, going for my morning run, posting my latest vid to SnapChat, or walking along the lovely streets of L.A.

Luckily for me, I discovered Sudio Sweden Designer Headphones and I'm excited to share why they are my new go-to digital and wireless companions. The Bluetooth capable headphones come in a cute high-quality leather case and they provide consistent studio quality sound with a super long battery life that is ideal for being on-the-go. What's even more impressive is that you receive personalized in-ear sleeves along with four varying sizes of earbuds with each pair of headphones.

According to Sudio's CEO, Johan Gawell, their "goal is to create a premium quality earphones combined with great Scandinavian design," and I must agree that have succeeded in doing so. My personal favorite from the collection are the Vasa Blå is Rose Gold White, more info on these are below.

Alexa Chung announces her first venture into tech by launching social style app ‘VILLOID’

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

When I first started blogging, Alexa Chung was one for my biggest inspirations. She was a DJ, dated a rock star, and had her very own show on MTV. Who wouldn't want that life? Check out below on her latest endeavor, launching social style app called ‘VILLOID.' The app is inspired by the computerized wardrobe in the 90's movie Clueless.

VILLOID is a new social style app set to revolutionize the way you get dressed in the morning, co founded and creatively directed by global style icon Alexa Chung. Similar to Instagram but specifically for fashion and with a buy button, it’s a virtual dressing room on the user’s phone.

“I suppose that scene in Clueless where the computer puts an outfit together from Cher's wardrobe really stayed with me.“ says Alexa Chung. “Clothes are fun, making mistakes is fun, being inspired is fun. VILLOID celebrates the process of getting dressed and showing your friends.”

VILLOID offers users a platform where they can share their style by uploading products and photographs onto a mood board, follow friends and fellow style mavericks, love boards and individual items. For anything they can't live without – there is the option to click the handy buy button and purchase the item. Consider this the paper dolls for the modern age.

It’s the British style guru’s first delve into the world of technology, an area she didn’t know a vast amount about when she teamed up with tech entrepreneur Jeanette Dyhre Kvisvik and her team who had been working with a similar idea.

Alexa and I immediately bonded, merging our ideas and utilizing her style genius, we have managed to make the best dressed app on the market.” says Dyhre Kvisvik.

“I wanted to get to learn something about a field I knew nothing about and I felt I could offer the tech field something I knew a lot about….clothes. Most decisions I make when it comes to new projects are based on whether it could further my education. The tech world was something I was incredibly curious about. Silicone Valley sounds like a bouncy castle I want to play on.” says Alexa Chung

Think of window shopping as a social game, only this this time it exists in the palm of your hand. VILLOID offers an opportunity to view a curated feed of style choices chosen by you, the user.

Take yourself on a journey into the VILLOID world, discover people, endless brands and ways of pairing items together that until now, only ever existed in your mind.

Early adopters of VILLOID include model and singer Pixie Geldof who has already crowned VILLOID as “the most addictive app in life.” One Direction hair stylist Lou Teasdale and British designer Ashley Williams are also devotees. And it’s not just the girls who are fans, British X-Factor judge Nicholas Grimshaw also spoke of his need for a men’s version of the app when he posted on his Instagram: ‘Congratulations to Alexa who is this generation’s Tom from MySpace. Can I do the menswear one? Please employ me @chungalexa’ Watch this space.

The app is now available in App store globally. The Android version is in planning, set to launch late 2015/early 2016.

On the West Coast and couldn't make it to New York? Don't fret, TechStyle NYC is coming to LA Fashion Week on October 8th, and I'm happy to announce that I'm co-hosting so stay tuned for the exclusive details on how you can attend.

The ultimate retreat for high end influencers, media, and shamelessly chic fashionistas came back for another full day of fashion, tech, beauty, and lifestyle on Monday, September 14th, 2015. Our friends at Bleu Magazine placed host as our resident media sponsor.

Doors opened at noon where guests were treated to a special gift from Donde Fashion with a quick download of their new shopping app. The Beauty Bliss Bar featured complimentary makeup touchups courtesy of Stylisted, an in-home beauty service, along with dry styles and specialty braids by Tressenoire, and True Concepts Organic. If you missed Titika, they still would like to send you something. Click here so we can put you in touch. Swggr, an app that rewards fashionistas/os for their style hung out for the day and was in search for trend setting brand ambassadors. Didn’t get to speak to them? Simply click here and we’ll put you in touch. Mavatar showcased their Carts for Cause™ from celeb Stylists including, Derek Warburton and of course TechStyle NYC’s host, Noah Levy. Attendees were treated to beverages from SoundTea and cold brew coffees and cocktails from Kopi Trading Co.; Our friends over at Warsteiner served up their Premium German Pilsner in  gorgeous gold-accent glasses that everybody got to keep. The cocktail reception featured a Do-It-Yourself mini-bar with an assortment of VeeV vodka that paired amazingly well with the flavors of SoundTea. Brode- the world’s first hydration vitamin hooked everybody up with some packs to keep them hydrated throughout the party and to avert guests from a next-day hangover. The team over at Osteria del Principe provided sandwiches while Dosha Pops and Stroopwafel provided some great snacking . Got a little rowdy and spilled a bit of your drink on your favorite outfit? BoomerangNYC was there, tricycle and all, to take care of the blunders to give out some credits to try their on-demand dry-cleaning and laundry service.

The positivity was in the air at the Mood Lounge with Lifetherapy where guests got to Choose Their Mood and were gifted fun mood bracelets. The Thync Bar, allowed guests to experience a calm or energy burst with their wearable tech. Can we say #PartyVibes?

Tech Skincare Startup, RESCUE by Stemáge, launches at NYC Pop-Up Shop at WALLPLAY

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

I just got the insider fashion scoop on the new tech skincare startup, RESCUE, that just pulled off one of the coolest pop-up shops of the year in NYC.

Check out the scoop on the event:
YC (California Technology) startup-meets-skincare-company, RESCUE by Stemáge premiered at a popup at Wallplay in LES, and it wasn’t your mom’s skincare shop, that’s for sure. Open daily with an onsite aesthetician sampling Stemage, and with nightly screenings of rescue themed movies of The Warriors, Big Lebowski and the Advanced Style Documentary, the event attracted a group of NYC influencers, bloggers, locals, and many others who experienced a company doing things differently.

RESCUE is an innovative new skincare company, anchored by all natural ingredients and a stem cell derived core active "MDFc19" that works with your unique biology to support cellular activity by increasing skin based collagen production. More collagen means healthier, younger appearing skin.

Developed by a world-renowned surgeon and researcher, Dr David Scharp, RESCUE is different from other skincare because its core active MDFc19 works both to support skin in the dermis (surface) and epidermis (deep), and helps to produce collagen, addressing a variety of skin issues all at once. Whether preventative or restorative, young or aging, RESCUE works universally for any age, skin-type, and ethnicity.

4 years in development, RESCUE by Stemáge began with its proprietary  and game changing anti-aging active MDFc19, and decided to evolve its product line based upon what people said they wanted. As a result, the focus of RESCUE became more tech company and less beauty brand, with an emphasis on bringing to market a solution that was accessible, easy to use and highly effective.

Offering a few industry firsts, Stemáge comes in two configurations, Ultra Moisturizer and Concentrated Serum. Both contain the same amount of proprietary core active MDFc19. If you have oily - normal skin, the Serum is a perfect for daily use. If you have dry to very dry skin, the Ultra Moisturizer is ideal. You can use each separately or together if you prefer, as many of our user do. With RESCUE, Stemáge is also the first company to deliver a core active for collagen production in a moisturizing formula. Stemáge also launched its two products in single serving applications, perfect for active on the go lifestyles. Both the serum and moisturizer boxes come with 30 single use packets, perfect for daily application at home or on the go; with RESCUE your best skin is always within reach.

In short: Over the course of the week, the #RESCUEPOPUP attracted thousands of New Yorkers, influencers, and media who flocked to see what RESCUE was all about, realizing quickly that Stemáge's RESCUE isn’t your traditional skincare company, and once they tried the product, they immediately became users. With RESCUE you really can feel the difference.
