TechStyle NYC: The ultimate New York Fashion Week experience

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

One of the not-to-be missed events of New York Fashion Week is definitely TechStyle NYC. Get the skinny below on the awesome event that includes fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and tech brands along with influential bloggers, designers, media, digital influencers, and more.

On the West Coast and couldn't make it to New York? Don't fret, TechStyle NYC is coming to LA Fashion Week on October 8th, and I'm happy to announce that I'm co-hosting so stay tuned for the exclusive details on how you can attend.

The ultimate retreat for high end influencers, media, and shamelessly chic fashionistas came back for another full day of fashion, tech, beauty, and lifestyle on Monday, September 14th, 2015. The experience was hosted by fellow fashionisto, TV personality and Style Expert, Noah Levy at Studio Arte. The roster of influencers included some loyal TechStyle NYC faces like Courtney Kornegay of The Courtwalk, Emily and Abigail of The Wanderlust Girls, Alexandra Dieck of Lexicon of Style, Bianca Jade of MizzFit, and actor Malik Yoba. There were also some new ones including Miss New York, Nicole Kulovany along with actress and comedian, Carey Reilly. Our friends at Bleu Magazine placed host as our resident media sponsor.

Doors opened at noon where guests were treated to a special gift from Donde Fashion with a quick download of their new shopping app. The Beauty Bliss Bar featured complimentary makeup touchups courtesy of Stylisted, an in-home beauty service, along with dry styles and specialty braids by Tressenoire, and True Concepts Organic. The Style Media Closet showcased designs by Meredith MarksT. TandonRejected Hearts Club, and Titika Active Couture. If you missed Titika, they still would like to send you something. Click here so we can put you in touch. Swggr, an app that rewards fashionistas/os for their style hung out for the day and was in search for trend setting brand ambassadors. Didn’t get to speak to them? Simply click here and we’ll put you in touch. Mavatar showcased their Carts for Cause™ from celeb Stylists including, Derek Warburton and of course TechStyle NYC’s host, Noah Levy. The peach parlor provided the ultimate bra-ha moment to attendees. Shapeways caused quite the stir with their 3D printed bags, jewelry designs and breathtaking masks.

Attendees were treated to beverages from SoundTea and cold brew coffees and cocktails from Kopi Trading Co.; Our friends over at Warsteiner served up their Premium German Pilsner in  gorgeous gold-accent glasses that everybody got to keep. The cocktail reception featured a Do-It-Yourself mini-bar with an assortment of VeeV vodka that paired amazingly well with the flavors of SoundTea. Brode- the world’s first hydration vitamin hooked everybody up with some packs to keep them hydrated throughout the party and to avert guests from a next-day hangover. The team over at Osteria del Principe provided sandwiches while Dosha Pops and Stroopwafel provided some great snacking . Got a little rowdy and spilled a bit of your drink on your favorite outfit? BoomerangNYC was there, tricycle and all, to take care of the blunders to give out some credits to try their on-demand dry-cleaning and laundry service.

The positivity was in the air at the Mood Lounge with Lifetherapy where guests got to Choose Their Mood and were gifted fun mood bracelets. The Thync Bar, allowed guests to experience a calm or energy burst with their wearable tech. Can we say #PartyVibes?

NEW APP SNAP+STYLE GIVES WOMEN REAL-TIME ACCESS TO THEIR OWN PROFESSIONAL STYLIST

Interactive Styling Service Platform Launches Today on iTunes and App Store

Revolutionary app SNAP+STYLE (S+S) launches today with a next-level styling platform tailored to democratizing access to a personal stylist.  Simply download the app, and a personalized, luxury service once reserved only for celebrities and a lucky few is now available for all.

The app enables a two-way dialogue between clients and a community of stellar S+S stylists with editorial, celebrity and brand experience. The stylists offer personalized, spot-on fashion recommendations that pair items from women’s wardrobes with apparel for purchase. All at the snap of a pic and a touch of a screen. In real time.

“Like many women, I longed for a knowledgeable personal stylist to guide me through shopping investments and daily wardrobe choices, enabling me to ask: How do I wear this piece?  How do I take it from day to evening?“ says co-founder Anna Jensen. “Now, I get real-time answers and complete confidence in my look. Every woman wants that sense of self-assuredness, and we built SNAP+STYLE to ensure that we all do.”

Bill McComb, former CEO of Liz Claiborne (now Kate Spade), an investor/advisor for SNAP+STYLE, immediately envisioned the game-changing retailer benefits. “I see in this technology the ultimate tool for a retailer,” says McComb.  “This is a platform that enables brands to take clienteling beyond traditional email outreach. Empowering store level associates to use a social-like interface to tap the power of two-way connection builds a community of loyal brand acolytes. That is nothing short of a very big idea."

Raul Fernandez, veteran tech CEO and Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports and Entertainment (owner of the Washington Wizards, Capitals, and Verizon Center) helped fund and accelerate the development of the business by recruiting Co-Founder CTO Gary Myers and fellow investors Bill McComb, ToddBradley and Marc McMorris.

Explains Mr. Fernandez, "Women are already highly engaged and interested in fashion. This platform provides anopportunity to build on that passion, redefining the level of deep customer interaction to create the most highly engaged community in the fashion space.”

SNAP+STYLE is now available for free to download on the Apple iOS App Store and iTunes.

LE FRENCHLAB Brings its Signature Edge to Los Angeles Fashion Week

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Check out the details on one of the coolest fashion runway shows during LA Fashion Week.

Le Frenchlab's partnership with cool-kid boutique The Well revealed the next class of emerging cult-fave designers and artists.

Le Frenchlab welcomed over 300 guests at the FRE(n)SH Los Angeles Fashion Week event Friday night, March 13th, 2015 at The Well. Sponsors included T.U.K. Shoes, ZICO© Premium Coconut Water, Clover Juice, wet n wild cosmetics, M. Steves Skincare.

French influence is definitely upping the cool factor in fashion for Los Angeles. Hailing from Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne, France), Creative Director Emmanuelle Rienda is back to launch her fashion incubator and artist collective, Le Frenchlab. The concept showroom comes after years of hard work as a french culture curator and entrepreneur, and although her own work has been featured throughout Paris and in magazines like Elle and Glamour, her latest project is all about the work of others. For Los Angeles Fashion Week, Rienda involves an elite team of creatives eager to execute the vision. "My aim is to curate, present and establish French creatives in the United States and develop concepts that highlight emerging creatives with a common DNA in order to successfully promote their art in the vibrant American fashion, music and art worlds."

After an industry meet and greet, the 7:30pm fashion show opened with male models and avant-garde French designer Atelier Brume, implementing a vision of sophistication and strength in an elegant, progressive garment. Distressed fabrics and exaggerated silhouettes for a bleak take on urbanwear. DNM Pieces, Le Laboratoire, a collection of sophisticated basics inspired by contemporary architecture.

Female models walked for EON Paris, designed by Lisa Cameron, a previous assistant to Alexander Wang, Jean Paul Gaultier, Martin Margiela and Gaspard Yurkievich - a promising Parisian, creative, ready-to-wear brand, which offers a high quality collection with minimalist and geometrical lines - and Chloé Trujillo (wife of METALLICA Bassist Robert Trujillo), an energy loaded scarves collection for body and soul! The high-quality silk scarves are a true art work and impressed with their poetic and colorful compositions.

The casting included fresh faces from high fashion modeling agency Photogenics Los Angeles. Custom runway music was composed by Sofia Hultquist - Founder of Drum & Lace - an audio development company that creates custom content and sound environments by uniting two of societies most creative forces- music and fashion. Runway makeup provided by award-winning Vlada Fomenko Haggerty. Her work was published internationally in Harper's Bazaar Ukraine, Like a Lion (Australia), Story (Ukraine), HOLE (Germany), WHERE (USA), Elegant Magazine, Elegant Ink, Fuse, Brink, Dark Beauty Magazine, Kaiouti Mag, Today's Bride and Jute Magazine.

The event also features a visual installation by special guest Guillaume Wolf: French creative icon, former Art Director at French Vogue, designer of the brand image of Parisian superstore Colette, and collaborator with luxury brands including Lucien Pellat-Finet and Isabel Marant. He is now living in Los Angeles and teaches at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. In the event curated by LE FRENCHLAB he presented two new art videos created part of The Process Space initiative: Time Travel Primer (2015), a visual allegory about time, and You Live A Good Lie (2015), a collaboration with performance artist Kayla Tange.

A musical performance took place at 8pm. DJ Coco Disco and katXX kicked off the after party along with a digital photography display by Kristy Benjamin. A Los Angeles native involved in the fashion & entertainment industries since a young age, Kristy has put a strong focus in her work on Independent Designers. She was directly involved with LE FRENCHLAB since meeting Emmanuelle Rienda on a photoshoot in 2014. She promises to start French lessons soon. "LE FRENCHLAB is something I believe in being so much on the forefront of really bringing something new and fresh to the Los Angeles fashion scene, I am proud to be an American member of this outstanding French collective. "

Followed by performance by Franco-American singer-songwriter Naomi Greene, whom offered a powerful scenic presence with mesmerizing rawness and expressivity. Her alternative folk/rock songs show traces of interests in jazz, experimental sounds, and operatic fantasy. Whether on harp or electric guitar, her elegant simplicity catapults her remorseless yet compassionate lyrics straight to the heart of those who hear her.

Sinner Sinners a forceful punk-influenced rock n’ roll out of the controlled masses, closed the nigh with an energetic set. “Sinners Sinners arrived from France to California 4 years ago, but they have already become one of the loudest punk sensations of Los Angeles.” Rolling Stone Magazine

Notable attendees included ACNE, Racked LA, LA Weekly, Nylon, No3 Magazine, JustFab, Forever 21, French Consulate and more.

The 5 Best Fashion Looks and Trends for Spring

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Even though we just wrapped Fashion Month with runway shows from New York, Paris, London, Milan, Hong Kong, and even Los Angeles, for the newest and hottest looks for Fall/Winter 2015, Spring is right around the corner and I've got you covered for the must-have items and trends for the new, warmer fashion season.

The 70's: This is currently the hottest decade to draw inspiration from in the fashion community. From belle bottom silhouettes, fringe, floppy hats, pretty print, and flowy dresses, all-things 70's are on-trend this season.

Ballerina's are the belle of the ball: Really pretty and delicate looks dominated the runways this season. From chiffon and tulle skirts and dresses to criss-cross tops baring a peek of a midriff to dance practice inspired bottoms. Looking feminine fierce in ballerina-esque pieces will make you the belle of the fashion belle this season.

Full circle: The days of rocking square bags are over. Opt for circular bags to be trendy this season. You can still pack your essentials into you bags, just maybe not your laptop or iPad.

Call of Duty: Military inspired looks are taking command this Spring and you can soldier on in this trend by wearing fatigue prints, deep greens, military jackets, and army one-pieces.

Denim Dream: Denim is back in a big way. We love chambray button-ups, denim jumpers, and all-denim looks that mix-and-match different rinses from dark-to-medium-to-light denim colorways.
