Timeless, Affordable, and always Chic: The skinny on Constant Threads

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Not only do I have the pleasure of knowing the lovely, creative, and super down-to-earth, creator and designer behind Constant Threads, Thalia Ziffer, but I was also lucky enough to snag one of her signature pieces, the Thalia Wrap Dress in Lipstick Red.

And of course, I just had to share with you all the skinny on one of my fav new fashion finds.

What I love most about the Thalia Wrap Dress is how soft the material is, it fits my body like a glove but it still tasteful, elegant, and more of all comfortable, which makes me feel confident enough to rock the dress from day-to-night.

Although the dress is traditionally tied on the side, I love to add a bit of Candy flair to it and tie it around the back. It's a must-have for the fashionista's closet because of it's versatility. It's the perfect first date dress, you can wear it in the boardroom, brunch with the girls, cocktails with co-workers, and everywhere else in-between.

I plan to rock mine on the beach! It's so soft and I love how the wrap design will easily be thrown over my bathing suit along with a large hat and sandals. How will you wear your Constant Threads Wrap Dress?

ABOUT CONSTANT THREADS:

At Constant Threads, your favorite looks will be available in a fresh color, fabric, or style when you’re ready. Our products are affordable and machine washable. And best of all, you can wear them anywhere!

Get holiday picture perfect with Pret a Porter Designs and Buddha to Buddha

Hi lovelies,

This past weekend I did a deep dive clean of my apartment in preparation of packing for going back home for the holidays. I couldn't muster up the strength to pack until everything else was in order. Are you guys the same way? Can't get into your groove until everything is clean and tidy? I just feel better and more settled. Then I light a few candles, relax, and then get to work.

I'm heading home on the 17th to Atlanta (my home-away-from-home) since my family relocated from Syracuse a few years back. However, I have to admit that our country home has grown on me and it's a beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

This means I have to pack pretty dresses, shoes, tops, bottoms, and accessories, for all of the holiday parties that I'll be attending while home. And of course, I need to be picture perfect, but comfy and cool, when snapping photos with the fam and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Luckily for me, I have the Kayla dress by Prêt à Porter Designs in reversible herringbone body to wear to my winter soirees with family and friends.

Check out how I style my Kayla dress for the holidays:

Fashionable regrets: The little white lace dress

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

I'm in mourning. And no, I'm not talking about the kind when you reach down into your bag of BBQ Lay's potato chips and realize that you've already eaten the last one while binge watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix. I'm talking about the type of mourning when you realize that you've missed your golden opportunity to buy that dress, bag, top, or bottom, that you feel in love with at the store but talked yourself out of buying it for whatever reason.

For me, that was the other day while I was at the Beverly Center and popped into Forever 21, don't judge me, they have some pretty trendy pieces that compliment my investment items, and as a fashionista that's on a budget, mixing 'the high' with 'the low' is my middle name. Did I mention that the Anja Rubik is the face of their new fall campaign? But I digress, I found this white lace bodycon dress that was to die for – think Herve Leger's coveted bandage dresses, so I swung the dress over my arm and proceeded to the fitting rooms. Once inside I squeezed into the dress and it fit like a glove, but was a bit snugger and a bit shorter than my usual style. “Sex kitten Candy?” I wasn't sure I was comfortable with that title.

So I talked myself out of buying the Herve Leger-esque dress that fit me to a tee and walked out of the store empty-handed. Flash-forward to tonight where I'm invited out for cocktails at a swanky club in West Hollywood and I'm franticly looking through my closet – boho-chic tops, leggings, sequins galore, denim cut-offs, but nothing even remotely resembling the look I need to make my mark tonight. I've already worn all of my go-to going out dresses and they have been too heavily documented on Instagram for a repeat wear.

So alas, I sit here, mourning the outfit that could have been: my white lace  bodycon dress paired with my red pumps and a gold clutch with a smokey eye and nude lips. Sigh. The worst part? The only person I have to blame is myself, just like when I've eaten that last Lay's potato chip. So let me know, when have you regretted talking yourself out of making that golden purchase?

My dream wedding dress inspiration

One of my best friends since childhood, we met in the first grade and have been inseparable ever since, is getting married next year and we have been planning everything from the fabulous bachelorette party, my maid-of-honor dress (her sister is the matron-of-honor), menus and cocktail selections, to the show-stopping wedding gown.

I always thought that I never wanted to get married, but as I've grown as a woman and have loved and lost, both my heart and mind have changed. I wanted to share with you guys inspiration for my dream wedding dress, inspired by my best friend.
