Candy Washington1 Comment

Hi lovelies,

With the holiday season in full bloom, there has a been a flurry of fashion invites to cocktail parties, launch events, grand openings, premieres, and more. But one of the most coveted invites within the fashion community was to the “Celebrate the Season”with InStyle presented by Single Edition Media fashion blogger event.

The night gathered some of the most influential fashionistas and beauty experts in New York City and was held at The Glass Houses, an elegant space located in the Chelsea Arts Tower. In addition to bringing together fashion bloggers, trendsetters, and influencers, the event also had impressive, interactive booths where attendees could connect with select fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands along with other experience programs. There were cocktails and a wine tasting provided by Flight Song Wine. Healthy yet yummy snacks and treats, which were also meat-free and vegan were the compliments of Gardein.

For those who couldn't score an invite to the must-attend blogger network event or make it to New York City in time, they provided an online video streaming option. Not to mention, the social media worlds of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook were a buzz with posts, pictures, and real-time updates from the event using #CelebrateInStyle.

Some of the breakout brands at one of the most exclusive blogger events included Bulova, who gave us the scoop on accessories and watches. Purple is the new color of the season with winter whites being the color of choice for the holiday season. Jergens shared make-up secrets with celebrity make-up artist Pati Dubroff and their sheer BB Cream. SearsStyle debuted their revitalized fashion line, Metaphor, that has the quintessential must-have items for the Fall wardrobe of the modern woman.

Tagspire officially launched at the event and gives fashion and beauty bloggers an easy digital platform to help them monetize their blogs, personal style posts, images, and photos in a unique way. Silk'n gifted select bloggers with their ReVit Microderm kit that gently exfoliates skin for young, healthy, and vibrant looking skin. Etienne Aigner displayed the latest “It” bag for the ultimate cool girl with their Stag Bags collection that was inspired by a men's camera bag.

Like any amazing event, all attendees received an exclusive swag bag that included gifts from Alassis Candles, RAP Protein Gummies, Balsam Hill, Skinny Girl Daily, Skinny Girl Sparklers, and Beautiful Textures. Can't wait until next time.

The Orchard Sews Up All US and Canadian Rights to Frédéric Tcheng’s Dior and I

Candy WashingtonComment

Following its critically acclaimed Tribeca Film Festival premiere, “Dior and I” will be distributed by The Orchard in 2015

(New York, NY | October 23, 2014)  Film & TV distributor The Orchard has acquired all rights in the U.S. and Canada to director Frédéric Tcheng’s fashion documentary Dior and I, which premiered at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival to outstanding praise. This marks the third fashion film for Tcheng, who previously co-wrote and co-directed Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel and co-produced Valentino: The Last Emperor. The documentary captures the entire process behind Raf Simons debut couture collection in his new position as Creative Director of Christian Dior Couture

"I am extremely excited to be working with the Orchard on bringing the film to its North American audience," said director Frédéric Tcheng. “They clearly have a passion for and understanding of the film that will translate to a successful roll-out.”

In 2012, legendary French fashion house, Christian Dior Couture, announced designer Raf Simons as its head Creative Director.  Dior and I pays homage to the work of the talented Dior atelier and takes a privileged, behind-the-scenes look at the makings of Simons’ debut haute couture collection and how it returned to the origins of the house of Dior.

The film takes an intimate, vérité-style glimpse at the inner workings of the Dior atelier, capturing the entire eight-week process up until the premiere of Simons’ collection. This includes the little-seen atelier workers – the heart and soul of the fashion industry – some of whom have sewed for Dior for decades and do so with an unbridled passion. Together, they form a support system for Simons and help to create his masterpiece collection, with every line they sketch and bead they sew.

A whirlwind of creativity, stress, determination and triumph, the movie boasts mass and niche appeal.

Dior and I is a visually and emotionally stunning film about an oft unseen part of the process in the world of high fashion,” said The Orchard’s SVP of Film & TVPaul Davidson. “Frédéric Tcheng has crafted a documentary that, much like the elegant creations in the world of Dior, deserves to be seen."

The film is slated for a 2015 theatrical release in the US and Canada. The deal was negotiated by Danielle DiGiacomo of The Orchard and Josh Braun of Submarine.

A Night with Matt Goss: Music and Fashion event for the Both Ends Burning charity

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

“A Night with Matt Goss,” which took place on Wednesday, October 15th, at the W Hotel in Hollywood, was a night of decadence and glamour that brought the shine of Las Vegas to Los Angeles. The evening featured Caesars Palace headliner and “The New Leader of the Rat Pack,” Matt Goss, giving an amazing performance and the beautiful ladies of Rockin' Models attending the show in style.

Matt is currently starring in commercials for Ciroc and the Caesars Palace and has performed at the Lincoln Theater for the Troops, Good Morning America, and the Queen Latifah Show. He has also performed for an audience of 50,000 in Times Square for the Revlon Run-Walk.

All of the glitz-and-glam was for a good cause with 100% of the evening's proceeds going to the Both Ends Burning charity. Both Ends Burning is an organization that is passionate about and dedicated to defending every child’s human right to a permanent and loving family. The purpose of Both Ends Burning is to protect and advocate for the rights of orphaned children and aims to end the institutionalization of children and the devastating effects that this broken cycle causes.

The evening was hosted by philanthropist, host, and celebrity trainer Grace Lazenby and by Craig Juntunen, who is the president and founder of Both Ends Burning. Guests enjoyed cocktails, music, and reserved seating in the swanky area of the W Hotel called, “The Living Room.” Outside on the private patio area we enjoyed roulette, black jack, and casino tables along with a celebrity red carpet.

Celebrity guests that were slated to attend included Alanis Morissette, Witney Carson, Kevin Connolly, Mayte Garcia, Jessica Canseco, Jimmy Jean–Louis, Jared Ward, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida, Jaime Murray, April Wilker, and more. The featured Rockin' Models were Mercedes Yvette, Sabina Gadecki, Hannah Kat Jones, and Katherine Bailess, along with children from around the world that showcased their Rat Pack-inspired designs. It was an evening of fashion and music to serve children in need, it doesn't get anymore glamorous than that.

Kent Denim: New menswear and denim collection by Noah Landis

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Menswear and denim fashion designer, Noah Landis left the world of corporate fashion to pursue his life-long dream of designing his own line. We are happy to report that dream has come true in his new stunning collection, Kent Denim

Noah grew up in San Francisco and then moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion and design. After working in traditional corporate fashion, he was tried of mass-produced menswear on the market and wanted to create quality jeans on his own terms. He packed his bags and moved back to the West coast and then took a leap of fashion faith.

He took an unconventional route and purchased an entire factory in Los Angeles, searched the world for premium denim, and is now able to bring his high-end casual menswear line, Kent Denim, to the masses without compromise. Each item of Kent Denim is hand with love and each pair of jeans takes 7 hours to create.

Celebrities are already on-board with the new line including Adam Levine, John Legend, and Snoop Dogg.

Designers & Agents: LA's coolest fashion tradeshow

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

Taking place in Downtown LA's coveted fashion district from October 13th-15th, the Designers & Agents fashion tradeshow was one of the top events to kick-off LA Fashion Week in style. But not to be outdone, we also covered this year's D&A show in New York and you can check out our recap of the event here. The design aesthetic held true to form and there were pretty floral arraignments throughout the show and the design of the show had a pink and purple floral print.

Porridge

Once I was in the tradeshow, a different kind of print caught my eye, it was the pretty prints of an emerging brand called Porridge.  The name of the brand was inspired by a childhood nickname of the designer, who was affectionately called, 'Laura Porridge,' as a child. That playful spirit still translates to the pretty prints on her collection of dresses, tops, and bottoms. All prints are done in-house and the designer takes inspiration from everything from a 1910 tile that she modifies and converts into a print. Her dresses range from $68-88 wholesale and the tops range from $52-68 wholesale, and the entire collection retails for under $200.

CalaXini

I then luckily stumbled across a seas of shoes at the CalaXini booth. Made in Spain, the shoe collection  originated out of workers in the field creating shoes out of recycled tires, which is still a part of the mold of the soles of the shoes today. Since fashion follows function, the durability of the shoes quickly became a fashion statement in Spain and the Mediterranean, and are now starting to make waves here in the States. The shoes now come in metallics, glitter, and matte colors, along with a customizable line. The shoes range around $52 wholesale and retails for around $115-125 per pair.

Kohzo

Kohzo_5.JPG

Next up was entering denim heaven at the Kohzo booth. Celebrities like Lenny Kravitz, Clive Owen, and Justin Bieber have all rocked the denim brand. Best-sellers include the Oniyanma, Akatombo, and Shinkai colorways and silhouettes, they are all wholesale for $196. Another best-seller is the Riding Horse that goes wholesale for $247. My personal favorite pair was the leather Samurai that wholesales for $770-1,000 and retails for $3,000 and up.

Breakout fashion installation: French Rebellion

Parisian showroom, French Rebellion, held some of the top emerging brands at the tradeshow. The innovative concept behind the showroom is to bring international designers together and break them into the US fashion market through cultivating their design vision, marketing, press, sales, and branding. There is even an incubator program for select designers to showcase their designs for an extended period of time in their New York showroom.

At Designers & Agents, French Rebellion displayed a curated collection of 19 breakthrough designers, some of which included, Albertine, AZADA By Tara, DO-Paris, Inouitoosh, Margaux Lonnberg, N/TICE, Nicolas Messina, Paradis Perdus, and Shazaz Jewels. The French Rebellion team is consists of five partners between New York and Paris, Courtney Daniels, Julia Simon, Stephane Dago, Murielle Bourdette-Menaut and Gilberto Bonelli.

Nicolas Messina: Beyonce is a huge fan of this designer and rocks his customized looks.

AZADA by Tara Haggiag: My favorite piece was the peacock maxi dress.

Vanessa Tugendhaft: This designer makes some of the most delicate pieces of jewelry around.

Paradis Perdus: The attention-to-detail on every piece in this collection is remarkable.
