When I finally made it to the salon I was greeted by a smiling receptionist, was served coffee, and was seen right-away - now that is the service I like. The back of the salon is where you get manicures, color, cuts, and blow-outs. There are six private rooms in case you need extra privacy for your beauty needs. I could feel the warmth and personal attention and care at the salon and I would definitely go again. I ended up with a deep chocolate color for my nails, perfect for Fall and being at Angelo David Salon was the perfect way to spend a rainy day in New York.

Spring and Summer Trends for 2012! Your must-haves for the new season
4 CommentsI'm so excited to bring you the latest and hottest trends for Spring/Summer 2012. The main trend for this upcoming season is definitely color – and lots of it. Isaac Mizrahi incorporated florals in his runway styles and according to a Pantone survey, tangerine is the fresh new color American designers are craving. Other delectable hues? Green, lemon, red, magenta, violet, sea blue, and chartreuse all made the cut. But pastels, pales, grays, cream, and blush tones stole the show in Paris. On-trend with Kate Middleton’s wedding color scheme, white is also a must have for your closet and the racks in your stores and boutiques. This upcoming season is all about remembering easier, lighter times of the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. And don’t forget it’s all about the color blocking!

5 Designers Collaborating With Beauty Instead of Fast Fashion

Some designers refuse to collaborate at all. Others partner up with every fashion-related endeavor under the sun. But some fashion industry denizens are taking an out-of-the-box approach to creative partnerships, bringing their style know-how to the beauty industry instead of, say, the realm of fast fashion. Design for your wardrobe, design for your face — the correlation makes sense. Let’s take a look at five fashion industry figures who’ve made the leap into beauty:
Lipsticks from Tom Ford Beauty, a line that grew out of a collaboration with Estée Lauder.
1. Tom Ford for Estée Lauder: With his original 2005 Estée Lauder collaboration, the former Gucci creative director kicked off a small wave of designer-beauty brand partnerships. Tom Ford for Estée Lauder was short-lived, however, and intentionally so — the beauty giant turned the collection into a permanent, standalone Tom Ford beauty line in 2006.
2. Gareth Pugh for MAC: Pugh, the fashion-forward Lady Gaga designer favorite, admits that even he uses MAC Cosmetics, so a partnership with the beauty brand seems natural. Not that there’s anything natural-looking about the upcoming 18-piece collection — Pugh’s dark and stormy aesthetic has been translated into an array of dark pigments and angular packaging. The limited-edition line will be available from November 23 to December 23.
3. Ksubi for Kiehl’s: Old-school American beauty company Kiehl’s has made it a habit to shake up their packaging on a yearly basis with limited edition styles from various fashion labels. This year, they’re offering a look from denim mainstay Ksubi. (Past years have included Sass & Bide and swimwear line Zimmermann.)
