After debuting a startlingly skinny figure in Hawaii last week, Lindsay Lohan defends herself against critics who feel she's recently gotten too thin.

"I've been eating enough," Lohan tells E! News.

The star -- who went through a very public breakup with DJ Samantha Ronson, 31, in April -- also says that she used her time in Hawaii to relax with her family and get healthy after what was "a hard month."

"We're a tight family," she says. "We've been through a lot so we take care of each other... We went hiking and everything in Maui, so it was really good."

Still, a source told Us Weekly that the 5'5" actress showcased a skin-and-bones physique while on the island, adding that "I've never seen hipbones that stick out so much."

In fact, Us Weekly confirms in the current issue that Lohan takes Adderall, a prescription drug usually given to people for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, to lose weight.

"She takes Adderall all the time," one source told Us. "She gets jittery because of the way the pills affect her. It's a major reason why she's losing weight."

Instead of focusing on her frame, however, the actress reveals that she is close to signing on the a new film. Although she says she wants to keep the details of the movie deal confidential, she acknowledges that "it has a really good cast."

Besides movies, she's trying to relaunch her music career.

"Pharell, please call me back," she shouts out to the music producer, who she's hoping will agree to go back in the recording studio with her.

OMFG! TAYLOR MOMSEN GROWS UP

You might not recognize Little J in her new NYLON fashion spread.

Taylor Momsen is under siege. "There are hundreds of people outside," says the 15-year-old actress, who is calling from the relative safety of her trailer. "It's pretty intense."

Momsen is on a break from filming the season finale of Gossip Girl, and says she's now accustomed to the mayhem that surrounds the show's many on-location shoots in New York. "When we started it was really calm, but all of a sudden it got insane. All the kids ditched their classes to come out and watch, and we had principals yelling at us because we were taking their kids out of class. I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm an actress! It's not my fault!'"

More attentive principals might instead want to credit Momsen for keeping their students around. Jenny "Little J" Humphrey has had a difficult year, dropping out of school to intern at Eleanor Waldorf's atelier, only to return, rather chagrined, to the halls of the Constance Billard School for Girls. Momsen has had more success: Jenny's transformation from Rufus' little girl to table-dancing fashion designer (and back) was successful thanks to Momsen's portrayal of Jenny's near-simultaneous skittishness and ruthless exuberance.

Both qualities are on display as Momsen describes her upcoming projects: a tour with her band, Pretty Reckless, and a collaboration with designer Jen Kao to produce costumes for those shows. She doesn't want to talk about either in too much detail: "I can't say much about it yet, but the vibe is a little rock n' roll, a little dirty - but not stripper dirty. I don't want people thinking this is what I would walk down the street in."

She almost seems relieved as we turn the conversation back to Gossip Girl - even if she's not at liberty to reveal much. "All I can say is that everyone else is moving on - Jenny's going to be the only one still in high school, since everyone else will be in college," Momsen says. "Whatever they end up doing, I'm sure there's going to be lots of drama."

Zac Posen Heads to Houston

The designer just wrapped up a three-day trip

Zac Posen has just wrapped up an exacting three day trip to Houston. The trip began on April 20^th at the home of Zac Posen’s friend, Becca Cason Thrash, when the socialite hosted a “Glamour Girls, Night Out” event for a group of 60 socialites before they headed to Cafe Annie.

The next day, Gracie Cavanar, a socialite and supporter of the Grand Opera, hosted a pre-benefit dinner in Zac Posen’s honor at her home. Posen’s date was Houston socialite Lynn Wyatt, and she wore a Posen white suit with a back slit.

To cap off the trip, Posen staged a fall runway show during a luncheon at the Zaza hotel. The runway presentation was followed by a champagne reception and a shopping event at a pop-up Saks Fifth Avenue boutique at the Zaza hotel.

It's not really a surprise given the number of socialites in attendance, but Posen noted that they were able to sell numerous special-order pieces from the show. Items included the Pamela Love for Zac Posen jewelry, encrusted stockings, and gowns. The event raised over $100,000 for the Houston Grand Opera.

Posen summed up his trip by saying that Houston was incredible, and that he enjoyed seeing how the women "make designer clothing and my clothing come to life, and how they create whole outfits out of it....and finding the place in America where there is true sophistication and connoisseurs of Zac Posen.”

I'm coming down from a really awesome weekend... the standard... see a buddy's band play, out with my usual suspects... and such... Mondays always feel like withdrawal... I think summer will bring about a much needed change of pace...

It’s funny how life imitates art. Upon wrapping her first high-profile role as Britney Spears’s bitchy pal in the 2002 drama Crossroads, 23-year-old Zoe Saldana faced her own fork in the road: Opt indefinitely for teen-friendly studio flicks as the “blonde girl’s best friend” or forsake Hollywood production perks-the goodies-laden craft-services tables and the tricked-out trailers-for the down-and dirty world of independent film?

At first, Saldana was undecided. She appeared in Drumline, Steven Spielberg’s The Terminal and the first Pirates of the Caribbean adventure. But after the “really great and really bad things” that came with making that summer blockbuster, Saldana strode confidently down the other path. Between 2004 and 2008, she appeared in nine indies, including Haven, Premium and Blackout. “I picked roles that reflected the everyday life I experienced.” she says. “I don’t want to be a small fish in a big pond-I’d much rather be a big fish in my own little pond.”

In 2009, that path leads Saldana, now 30, to big, big things. On May 8, she’ll explore the final frontier board the retroffited USS Enterpise in J.J. Abrams’s highly anticipated Star Trek as the ship’s communications officer, Uhura. December will bring the science-fiction adventure Avatar, James Cameron’s firs feature since Titanic. Both are gigantic productions that, combined, will require a year of grueling international press tours, junkets, red-carpet appearances and convention visits.
