Beauty secrets revealed: NYFW and Award Season Edition

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

From New York to LA, fashion week and award season are both in full swing. This means that I have to make sure my beauty regimen is on point. Whether it’s keeping my eyebrows on fleek, my cheeks perfectly flushed, my contour blended to a tee, or my personal confidence at an all-time high, I can’t leave my house without my beauty secret weapon. After all, confidence and true beauty radiates from the inside out.

Since I love giving you all a behind-the-scenes sneak peek inside my life, I wanted to be super transparent and get personal and real for a moment. So let’s face it, we all have to take care of our little bums from time-to-time, and I’m here to share with you how I do it.

Plus, with all of the skinny lattes, double espressos, sugar-free Red Bulls, and Suja juices, that keep us fashionistas, bloggers, and social media influencers on top of our game, taking care of our little bums becomes even more important, and frequent, during this busy fashion and award season, which is why I use Cottonelle® with CleanRipple® Texture as my ultimate beauty secret weapon.

Check out below for the scoop on how I stay so fresh and so clean during New York Fashion Week and award season.

BEAUTY SECRETS REVEALED:

Stay clean and confident with Cottonelle® Flushable Cleansing Cloths with CleanRipple® Texture

Every fashionista needs a secret weapon that keeps her feeling clean and confident all day long. For me, that’s Cottonelle® with CleanRipple® Texture, it keeps me clean so that I feel confident enough to strut my stuff, whether down the runway, the red carpet, or the city streets, without any hesitation.

I also love taking fashion risks, especially on the red carpet and during fashion week, so I like to experiment with different fabrics, lengths, and styles, which means that my undergarments or sometimes lack thereof (can I get a #girlboss for going commando?), sometimes needs to be very minimal and because it’s designed to clean better, I rely on my Cottonelle® Flushable Cleansing Cloths with CleanRipple® Texture to keep me confident no matter what I am, or am not, wearing.

Luckily for me, Cottonelle® knows it takes a bold confidence to go commando, but once you’ve got it – it makes all the difference.

I also have a super cute case that I keep them that lets me travel with them from show-to-show and from event-to-event, so I never have to worry about feeling less than my best.

Be sure to comment below or find us on Twitter @Cottonelle and @CandyWashington with what’s in your beauty bag and any questions you may have.

And don’t forget to be brave and go commando!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

NEXTPERT styleXtech: The influential blogger event of New York Fashion Week

Hi lovelies,

One of the hottest events during New York Fashion Week was the NEXPERT styleXtech event. It brought together the brands that are on the cutting-edge of technology, fashion, lifestyle, digital, and beauty.

One of my favorite finds from the event was the FlyGrip. It's my "one-handed smart phone solution" that lets me text, talk, and take photos with effortless ease. The FlyGrips come in multiple colors and designs and fits on the back on your smart phone. You can even use it to prop up your phone on flat surfaces.

New York Fashion Week: Recreate the romantic bouffants from Badgley Mischka's FW '15 runway

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

As a fashion and beauty lover, one of my favorite things to do is to recreate beauty, fashion, and hair trends from the runway, especially from New York Fashion Week. I just scored the insider scoop on how to get the look from Badgley Mischka's Fall/Winter 2015 collection from contributor Wendy Rose Gould on Latest-Hairstyles.com

Get the runway look the real way:

"NYFW Fall/Winter 2015 is wrapping up, and my goodness have we loved the looks. Everything is super fresh — remarkably “fresh” for autumn, even — and there’s a certain romance in the air," explains Wendy Rose Gould of Latest-Hairstyles.com. "For makeup, it’s all about nude, natural lips and eyes that stand out in a room. For hair, it’s about romantic simplicity."

"Badgley Mischka’s runway had all of the above, and we fell in love with the entire look and collection. Especially the hair (naturally)! The hair was inspired by the collection itself and incorporates both sensual modernity and a hint of old fashioned. Peter Gray for Moroccanoil created what’s been dubbed the “sexy walk of shame” or, in his own words, the “stride of pride.” The style is delicately textured, just loose enough, and very sexy. Think glamorous bedhead."

Step 1: Up The Shine Factor
After washing your hair, lightly mist with a little hairspray, such as Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray. This will create a strong, shiny foundation for you to work with. Rough dry your hair with fingertips on low heat to create a loose and piece-y texture.

Step 2:  Curl, Girl
Using a large, 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron, curl two-inch sections of hair. Alternate directions as you do this, then apply more hairspray to create additional definition and hold.

Step 3: Time for Texture
For that sexy “bedhead” appeal, use a little dry shampoo or texturizing spray at your roots. This will both mattify and add texture. Try Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo.

Step 4: Be a Tease
Begin to gently backcomb hair in 1 1/2-inch sections starting at the crown, toward your forehead. Gray says, “To ensure even crown height, count the number of brush strokes and gradually increase strokes as you work towards the top of head.”

Step 5: Gather Hair
After teasing, gather sections from your ear to temple on either side of your head and twist back towards the center. Once at the back of your head, secure with bobby pins and a spritz of hairspray for good measure. You can even add an ornate hair accessory, such as the one pictured.

Positively swoon-worthy, right? Let us know if you try this one out.  If you do, we’d love to see the finished look. Feel free to reach out with a photo or feedback via Instagram or Twitter!

New York Fashion Week: Watch Cynthia Rowley's F/W '15 Digital Runway

Candy WashingtonComment

Hi lovelies,

One of my absolute favorite designers is Cynthia Rowley and since I was stuck in L.A. during pilot season I wasn't able to attend her coveted show during New York Fashion Week but luckily for me, I was still able to watch her digital fashion runway and I wanted you all to be able to share in the fashion genius that is Cynthia's Fall/Winter 2015 collection.

I loved the addition of sheer into her pieces along with the deep purples, blues, and metallic embellishments.

With the Mercedes-Benz Fall/Winter 2014 Fashion Week right around the corner, I thought it was only right if I provided you with my ultimate Survival Guide for NY Fashion Week.

Read below for my top tips and don’t forget to comment below and tweet @candywashington letting me know about your experiences.

Have your +1 BFF in place

The only thing better than attending the after and pre-parties and runway shows, is watching in awe of the new collections, sipping champers, and snapping selfies with your fashion-partner-in-crime. Hands down, the secret weapon of surviving Fashion Week is having a bestie to share the experience.

bff-blair-waldorf-blake-lively-fashion-friends-Favim.com-216238_large-1.jpg

Smartphone and charger

It’s a Twitter and Instagram world, so make sure that your phone has the technical capabilities to tweet and post pictures and videos in-real time from the shows. Be sure to have your charger with you in case you run out of juice. Vine and Snapchat are others savvy platforms to share your fashionable content.

A killer pair of heels and a killer pair of flats

Unless you’re only going for one show or party, then be sure to pack your comfiest, yet cute, pair of ballet flats for when you’re running from show to show, downtime when you’re not in front of the camera, and waiting in the long lines to get to the shows.

Cityslips_ballet_flats_this.jpg

Survival toiletries:

·      Altoids and hand sanitizer – so you can meet and greet in confidence

·      Coconut Water – it’s important to stay hydrated so you don’t burn out

·      Lipgloss so your smile is all you need to flash to get through the velvet ropes

·      Notebook and paper – call me old-fashioned, but sometimes you just need to write your notes down

Your statement outfit

During Fashion Week you can always bet on black. But it’s also the perfect occasion to be a bit daring in your ensemble – sequins, feathers, leather, sheer, and next-big-thing are all welcome. But the trick here is that whatever you choose to wear, wear it with confidence and rock it.
