Perfecting Your Hollywood Smile
Hi lovelies,
Smiling is a brilliant thing. You don’t just smile when you are happy; it works the other way too. When you smile, even if you aren’t feeling great, your brain makes a positive connection, and you feel a little better. By smiling, you can actually trick your mind into letting go of negative thoughts and looking on the bright side. Smiling is also an excellent workout for your face, and a nice way to use some of those muscles.
Your smile can even make other people happier. Smiles are infectious. When someone smiles at us, we generally smile back. We then feel more joyful, and so we smile at the next person that we walk past. They feel better, and so they smile, and on it goes until that one first smile has spread, making multiple people happier and improving their days.
Smiling can also improve how other people see and treat you. When you smile, you become more approachable and easier to talk to. You look friendlier and more trustworthy, and other people are more likely to confide in you or do what you tell them. This can improve your performance at work and boost your relationships. We even become more attractive when we smile.
But, it’s not something that many of us feel good at. We worry about how we look when we smile, we think about our teeth and lips, or we are sure that our smile is goofy. Some people try their best to avoid doing it at all, and others try their best to do it with their mouths closed.
Smiling shouldn’t be something that you give this much thought to. It should be something wonderful that you enjoy. Here are some tips to help you perfect your Hollywood smile so that you do it more often, and more naturally.
Make Smiling a Habit
When smiling becomes a habit, we start to do it without thinking. If you don’t smile much, this might mean reminding yourself occasionally. When you get up in the morning, tell yourself that you are going to smile during the day. Try to smile at everyone that you see, and think happy thoughts to encourage yourself.
Take Care of Your Teeth
One of the most common reasons that we don’t smile is that we are self-conscious about our teeth. If yours aren’t straight or you have other worries, you may try to hide them when you smile. Or, you might be reluctant to smile at all, uncomfortable or worried about what other people think.
If you don’t like your teeth, do something about it. Click on veneers can be a great fix, perfect for weddings, or other events when you want to look your best. Straightening, whitening and other options can also help.
Boost Your Confidence
Your teeth might not be the only things that are holding your confidence back. There could be many other factors. Try to understand why you might feel a lack of confidence, and you’ve got a better chance of doing something about it. But, easy confidence boosts can be exercise, spending time doing things that you are good at, with people that make you happy, and getting more rest.
Keep it Natural
Try to fake a smile, and it will look fake. You’ll be uncomfortable, you’ll spend time wondering what to do with your face, and you certainly won’t feel happy. If it doesn’t come naturally, it’s best not to bother.
Stay Hydrated
Your smile will look and feel better if you are hydrated. Your lips will be softer, your skin clearer, and your breath better. Your smile will be radiant, and you won’t worry about it at all. Try to drink more water every day to stay hydrated.
Make Eye Contact
The quality of a smile isn’t all about the smile itself. It will look better and feel far more natural if you engage with the people that you are smiling at. Maintain eye contact as you speak to people and even make eye contact as you pass people in the street or when you sit down next to them on the bus.
Soften Your Lips
Dry, chapped lips make us self-conscious, they don’t look great, and they can even be painful when you try to smile, as they crack and stretch. Proper hydration will help to keep your lips soft, but sometimes, in the winter especially, they might need a little extra help. Use a gentle balm, or kind lipstick to keep them looking and feeling the best even in harsh winter conditions.
Improve Your Posture
When your posture is bad, you hunch. You look down and curve your neck. This can lead to low confidence, poor shape and a double chin, all of which makes smiling harder. Improve your posture for a better smile.
