A Simple Guide To Buying Lingerie Online

Hi lovelies,

What we put on our bodies is important. And there’s no item of clothing more important than our underwear. After all, it’s the first thing we put on in the morning and the last thing to come off at night.

So choosing the perfect lingerie is critical. But online, it can be a minefield. There are so many choices on offer, and everything has a different fit. So how do you separate the wheat from the chaff?

In this simple guide to buying underwear online, you’ll discover some golden nuggets of wisdom on how to make the whole encounter less stressful. And end up with bras that last longer than 5 minutes before they’re sent back in a rage.

What Do YOU Want
When we’re shopping online, generally, you can just go on your favourite website and browse to your heart’s content. But with underwear, it can be a minefield. There are so many options available. Do you want a balcony bra, Brazilian panties, shapewear, or something special? There are also offerings for every size and shape, so head to a retailer that provides what you need. So if you need plus-size offerings, go for a company that does plus size bras. Knowing what you’re looking for before you start will help you wade through all the options with ease.

And remember, it’s all about you. Think about what makes you feel confident. So when it comes to throwing your underwear on, you always know it’s comfortable and makes you feel good.

Sizing
Getting the right size for clothes is hard enough. With underwear, that issue is compounded. Especially when it comes to bras. First up, measure yourself correctly. Get your trusty tape measure out and make a note of all measurements you take. That’ll take the pressure off when it comes to choosing your size. Make sure that you refer to the retailer size guides, too, as we all know how much they can differ by brand, even with underwear.

When choosing the size for panties, you want to flatter your peach. If the sides are making your bum spill out, go up a size. You’ll thank yourself later. Bras can be even more difficult than panties, so we’ll go into a little more detail below.

How Do I Know I’m Wearing The Wrong Size Bra?
Usually, we can tell we’re wearing the wrong size. But with bras, it’s not always that simple. Some quick tips to remember are; if the bra leaves marks, it’s too tight, and if you can easily get your hand under the wire, you should increase the band size. The band should feel comfortable but firm because this is where a lot of the support comes from.

To check if it’s too small, stretch those arms up into the air. If the cups ride up, get a size down in the back. But if the bra gives you four breasts, your cups are far too small, and you should go up a cup size. A great tip is that if you need to go up a cup size, go down one on the underband size and vice-versa.

Use The Customer Reviews
There is nothing more helpful in online shopping than customer reviews. You can gain tremendous insights from peoples reactions to the product you’re looking at. They will tell you about fabric, fit, and even whether they come up big or small. It’ll save you the stress of ordering one thing and getting something completely different in the mail.

Fabric
Because you’re wearing underwear all day, the fabric it’s made with is vital. While we all love fancy lingerie made from lace and silk, you might not want to wear that all day while you’re running around after the kids. So for comfort, go for cotton. Organic cotton or bamboo is even better as it will last longer.

Know The Returns Policy
Returns policies for underwear are generally very different to those you have with traditional clothing. Some companies won’t let you return panties; most will only allow you to return if the hygiene strip is still in place. Make sure you meticulously read what you can and can’t do before you buy. A bad returns policy may put you off buying from a company altogether.

If you’re struggling to find a company to start with, we suggest going for retailers that only sell underwear. Buying from them means you’re getting it from experts whose job is to make it as upmarket and comfortable as possible. After all, they want you to go back to them.
